AMERICA'S NEXT TOP GIMMICK
« on: 16 Sep 2007, 22:05 »

I always need a reality show to drool over. It's a rule. For the past few years, the main object of my affection in the realm of television has been the Top Model franchise (seen every episode of every cycle of America's, Canada's, Britain's, and Australia's Next Top Model...this obsession sponsored by YouTube). It's something that I enjoy because it's wonderful TV, but also because it's something I can poke fun at every day.

As I'm sure many of you would have noticed if you were as indisputably lame as I am, they tend to pick people for their life stories rather than their potential as models. They've had blind girls, teen mothers, ex-fat chicks, still fat chicks, ex-drug addicts, blatant current drug addicts, broken homes, abusive pasts, and much much more (that I can't think of).

Anyway, Cycle 9 there's a girl with Asperger's. Something doesn't add up. The show is still about modeling, right? I'm anxious to see how it plays out. She must only have a very mild case otherwise I don't see how it possibly could.

I'm not getting anywhere fast with this, but I just want to know why some people (producers and such) think it's better TV when you put gimmicks on that make the show into something that it's not supposed to be? Does anybody else have examples of this?

The gimmick in the last series was that they had a girl with such poor enunciation that they had to put subtitles on whenever she spoke, if I remember right.

I love that word... Asperger's... You simply can't say it out-loud without it sounding like you said Ass-Burgers, unless you stumble through it trying your best to say the P.

My Bare Lady?

I dunno, the idea of the porn actress going all "high theatere" is really bizarre.

Do you have what it takes to be America's next corpulent trailer trash wife?
