Taking into account that i barely know who Coheed and Cambria are, i suppose not.
I still love the explorer though.

This is a hole we can't dig ourselves out of.

Anyway, Hetfield always played ESP models, IIRC. The only Gibsons I've ever seen him play were Les Pauls. Which makes his new ESP signature model HILARIOUS (it's based on one of his LP Customs).

You guys, there is a Marshall half stack for sale on Craigslist for $400. It's the MG100HDFX with MG412A (angled) cabinet. IS THIS WORTH IT? My tax refund could totally cover it. Argh. I hate being poor.

Avoid. Solid state, and not even a very good one.

Why would anyone want an iron-fucking-cross on their guitar? Hetfield might as well just regrow his biker 'stache and trim of the sides.

What do you guys think of Sovtek? They're pretty cheap as far as all-tube heads go. I figure if I spend a little more on a head up front, I can upgrade the cabs later. I've been looking at the MIG-50 and thinking about tossing the cheapest 2x12 cab I can find under it.

I resent a consumer-grade tube amp being named after a part of my military heritage. In fact, the G part of MiG stands for nearly my name (Mikoyan-Gurevich, the latter being a variation on my surname, Gurvich)

This amp better kick ass to be named after a Soviet fighter jet.

Sovtek used to make Big Muffs for EHX, didn't they?

Based on that, man, you can't go wrong.

Look it up on YouTube.  There's a pretty good handful of videos.  Everything I've found about them so far is positive.

Be careful about the condition of the Sovtek amp.  A buddy had one with the crystal busted or LED missing or something and it nearly caught his house on fire.  Moral of the story is don't be an idiot, I guess.

I saw a rerun of Demetri Martin's new show and he was playing this weird Gretsch model that I have never seen before and cannot find on the internet for the life of me. It was a sort of a Telecaster-ish design with two humbuckers (I think the one in the bridge position was angled like a Tele single-coil which was weird) and it had a headstock that make the neck look like a hockey stick. The thing sounded awesome and I can't decide if it looked cool or hideous. Anyone seen one of these before?

I saw the same episode. It looked like some sort of Eastwood with a Dano-esque headstock until I noticed the Gretsch logo. No clue what it is though.

Speaking of which guys, new Eastwoods!

Breadwinner

Monolith

Not quite sure what to think of the former; the latter is pretty cool (in brick red as well) despite my not being a fan of humbuckers in Teles.

I thought it could have been a Univox, but I could not make out any logos anywhere on the guitar.

He was playing a sweet tweed amp, though.

That looks like an Eastwood guitar, except without looking like it belongs plugged into a console.

With a different headstock I would probably have erotic dreams about that guitar.

Ampeg makes guitar amps, they're just not as widely used as their bass ones.

Ampeg actually has a tiny version of their SVT that I would like to use for guitar.

They have been making guitar amps since the early 60's. They were the first company to have onboard spring reverb in their amps, they had it even before Fender did.

So I'm officially starting on a layaway plan to get a Megatar. I've been emailing Traktor Topaz, and as soon as we have the price settled, I'll be on my way. I'm going to try to pay enough each month so that I'll have it in six months.

I'm getting a True Tapper Storm (the one with the Bartolini pickups), with black trim. I'm getting "bass bottom" tuning, i.e., both courses are in fourths, but I'm customizing it so the strings are in reverse. With my custom tuning, he said I might want to get an adjusted pickguard (at a price) so the pickups are positioned for tone the same as in non-reverse. He also said it really wouldn't make a significant difference in tone, but that he'd throw in edge dots for free, so I said yes.

So I'm way too excited about it. You should watch this video, and maybe this one too, to see a Megatar in action. Heck, I'll just put a bunch of links below. Follow them or not, it's okay. I promise none of them are a rickroll.
Kontinuum
Traktor explains their basic model, the Truetapper eclipse
Some guy plays "baby elephant walk"
megatar played by Brian Welch

In the interest of fairness, I must tell you of the existence of the Chapman stick. It's been around a lot longer, and indeed Emmet Chapman, the founder, invented this method of "upright neck, arms parallel to the frets" tapping. However, I much prefer the tone and appearance of the Megatar, not to mention the enormously lower price. That, and the Megatar has a couple significant innovations built in, like the Buzz Feiten intonation system (and a friggin' body). Anyways, in the vein of the Chapman stick, here are some general tapping videos that show off what a Megatar can also do.

Already have one.  It's an MIM tele in wine red.  I just had a full set up and a bone nut installed.  I dig the pickups on there, but they're a little noisy.  I might change them out.

I love it a little too much to put the bigsby on, as they can be a little wonky.   Though, I really want a guitar with a bigsby, so an sx tele may be the answer.
