Even if you don't like them, you have to admit their shells are pretty badass.

And at least it's not a hatchetfish:

Creepy bioluminescent fish with big googly eyes. (Though bioluminescence is totally rad.)

I think their hemoglobin is copper-based rather than iron-based or something.

Put it in spoilers because it's a very graphic picture, definately NSFW or safe for kids. If the mods deem it too inappropiate, I would understand if they remove it.

Yuk.  And quite simply, I don't believe it anyway.  For a start, the line where the head is divided from the body is way too neat and tidy.

It's real, Leopard seals like to think that playing with their food is fucking hilarious.

Some more shots from the same photographer, his name is Paul Nicklen, the shots were for NatGeo (I have that issue lying around somewhere, but damned if I can find it).

Portuguese man o war are terrifying because they are not a sea creature, but a sea creatures.  "one" man o' war is technically a colony of many polyps which I think makes them all the more terrifying.

This isn't a fish but in 1999, i think it was, or 1997. Maybe. Anyway, that's irrelevant.

But a massive noise was heard the was so incredibly loud it was recorded in two different places thousands of kilometres away. Scientists say that it sounds like it was a noise made by an animal, but no animal known to man is large enough to produce such a loud sound. Even giant squid that have occasionally washed up on beaches are no where near large enough. They call this noise the 'Bloop.'  I find it really fascinating and kind of creepy too, I don't really know why.

Apparently it doesn't actually fit the profile for an animal all that well. It's just weird, and unexplained. I love the ocean because there's so much crazy shit going on out there that we know nothing about. It's nice to be reminded that there is still so much on this planet that's unexplored.

This one's been all over the internet, apparently.  It's an unborn cyclops of a bull shark that was pulled from its mother's womb after she was caught.

I call bull(shark)shit. Sharks don't have wombs. Plus, it's downright impossible for a mutation to produce a cyclops, especially one with an eye below the nose.
