The Mix-Up
« on: 15 Jul 2007, 09:25 »

Just for the record..the Beastie Boys are alive and kicking, still. They just put out a new studio album titled "The Mix-up". What's different about it? No rapping. They've picked up their instruments and put down 12 tracks of pure awesome.

I want each and every one of you to at least check it out. To start you off, here's the 11th track, "The Cousin of Death" in m4a format.

Wait so you're letting something that happened 10 years ago ruin your quality of life? What are you, America? :psyduck:

I hear that they sold their turntables and bought guitars.

BUT I WAS THERE

I listened to it when it first leaked.

"ehhhhhhhhhhh" was my initial reaction and that's about what it stays at. It's not sloppily done and flows together pretty nicely but there's nothing there that makes me want to listen to it multiple times.

At least it's not "To The Five Bouroughs". That shit was not very good.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I love the Beasties, but frankly I don't give two shits about their instrumental diversions. You guys rap, pretty well for middle-aged white guys. So make a goddamn rap album already.

You're right about that.

You have to love the Jew-fro that Mike D's sporting lately as well.

Having received this album in the post to review...

...I fucking LOVE it. It's lift music really, it sounds like the score to the imaginary film that the 'Sabotage' video was advertising, but I can't stop myself from having a great time listening to it.

However, I maintain that no-one gives a damn and we want to hear them rap. *shakes fist*
