If you're interested, it'd probably be pronounced something in between "sho-sho" and "syo-syo" - rhymes with "go-go" - if (as it looks like to me) it's meant to be romanized (pinyin) Mandarin Chinese. It's the consonant sound that's tricky; I'm pretty sure on the long "o" sound, though.

But hey, it's their band, they can (mis)pronounce it as they like.

It's sad how often people feel like they need to be ashamed of what they listen to on this board. Half of those lists are critically successful bands at one time or another. I mean, Ben Folds ffs? Show me someone who thinks he's untalented, and I'll show you a scene kid with no sense of individualism.

That said, here's what I'm ashamed of liking:

Maroon 5 (Their latest album only...)
Switchfoot
Weird Al
That one Baha Men song on the Malcolm in the Middle soundtrack
Poison

Someone once told me that the band that has been together the longest without breaking up or taking any kind of official "hiatus" is Weird Al's band.  That's pretty fucking cool if true.

Outside is my favorite David Bowie album.

I have just defeated you all.

somewhere, 1970's David Bowie is in space, and he's shedding a very funky single tear.

Rip Me! For My Taste In Music: Australian Edition

Something For Kate. yep, even after "The Official Fiction".
Van She (yep, they're cheesy, rip off the Cure and so scene i want to stab them but they're fucking catchy and i like 'em)
The Presets - pretty much because "Are You The One" redeems their multitude of other sins.
Kisschasy - i've followed them since "Darkside", saw them in an RSL in Narrabri before "Do-Dos and Woah-Ohs". now they're all over the radio and they can still write a pop song and be nice guys at the same time.
Gyroscope/After The Fall/In The Grey/australia's entire emo/post-hardcore scene before The Hot Lies and Behind Crimson Eyes came along, i can't stand either of those.

I am also a huge Idlewild fan, despite their bizarre and often circuitous lyrics.

Does liking the Tears make me a terrible person or is that acceptable?

-bands named after days of the week suck, and thursday is one of the most boring days of the week.  what, were friday, saturday and sunday taken?
-death cab for cutie sounds like a bad film noir.  if it were a movie i would not watch it.
-U2 is a stupid band because their names sounds like "you too" and that can potentially be confusing in conversation
-jimmy eat world is a gross exaggeration.  at the most, jimmy can only eat a small island or maybe some third world country.

Here is a list of some of my favorite songs of all time, in a somewhat random order, for your ripping or praising pleasure:
Spoon- The Way We Get By
The Cure- Just Like Heaven
Talking Heads- Psycho Killer
Pixies- Debaser
Outkast- Hey Ya
Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Modest Mouse- Doin' the Cockroach
The Postal Service- Such Great Heights
The Beatles- A Day in the Life
The Who- Baba O'Riley
Neutral Milk Hotel- Two-Headed Boy
Belle and Sebastian- She's Losing It

Dig for Fire is obviously better than Debaser.

Once, a long time ago, I owned Dave Navarro's solo album. And Andrew WK's first album. And Jamiroquai's Travelling Without Moving, Synkronized and A Funk Odyssey. I still listen to Synkronized.

I own every Nine Inch Nails album, EP and single released in the US, and some imports. I own a physical copy of the Purest Feeling (oh, what a name) bootleg.

Ditto on Ministry. I also enjoy both Dark Side of the Spoon and Animositisomina. But I hate everything after HotM.

I enjoy Coil's Constant Shallowness Leads to Evil.

now if only Avril knew about my loyalty, and dumped that dumb sum 41 guy.

Avril's hot and all, but that "your girlfriend sucks" video makes me want to give her the finger.

I've always figured that Animowhatsit is the only good Ministry album. That one novelty Jesus song isn't fun enough to save the rest of Psalsm.

Dude! Jesus Built My Hotrod!

Though I suppose if you had the single, with the extended version, you could probably render the album superflous. Apart from Psalm 69. That song has one of my favourite uses of sampling in music ("And now it's time to give a little bit of love back to God...DA NA NA NA DA NA NA NA).

Also, who the hell feels ashamed for liking Coil? They're easily one of the ten best bands of the last quarter century.

Animositisomina's one of my favorites, since the thrash-minded Al Jourgensen took a backseat to electronica-minded Paul Barker. When Barker left after making that album, Ministry became a run-of-the-mill speed metal band. But the pre-Psalm albums were all pretty excellent. Anything during the Wax! Trax! heyday, really.

Though I suppose if you had the single, with the extended version, you could probably render the album superflous. Apart from Psalm 69. That song has one of my favourite uses of sampling in music ("And now it's time to give a little bit of love back to God...DA NA NA NA DA NA NA NA).
True that. Ministry plays single cuts live instead of album cuts, so they're pretty good if you catch them on the right night. In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up was a great live album.

I guess what I should really be ashamed of is liking With Sympathy. Except for "What He Say". God, that song is fey incarnate.

Also, who the hell feels ashamed for liking Coil? They're easily one of the ten best bands of the last quarter century.
Oh, I love Coil, I've got Black Light District on translucent vinyl. But Constant Shallowness is such a wanky album.

I''m not too embarrassed by very much I listen to.  But there is some that is a little embarrassing, considering my deep love for 80's goth and punk.

The Whitlams
Killing Hedi (just their first two albums though)
Pink's song - Who Knew
and that song by Mika - Grace Kelly.  Everything else of his I have heard I hate, but that sonmg is so damn catchy.

I'm pretty happy with all my other musical choices thank you.  Plus guys, there is nothing embarassing about liking The Cure, Bowie or Joy Division.

There certainly is something wrong with liking Andrew WK. I'm not really much of a critic, but I'd never heard anything that made my brain want to melt out the back of my head until I heard him.
