Anberlin: Cities
« on: 17 Aug 2007, 10:19 »

have any of you heard this album yet? Anberlin's first 2 albums aren't all that great but Cities is very swiftly becoming one of my favorite CDs. i think these guys were just hiding their talent! The Album is incredible.

I liked the last track on that one and I liked a couple other ones as well... but other than that I found that album kind of dry. "Blue Prints for the Blackmarket" had some really good lyrics.

Honestly, I think this is one of the worst places to post about Anberlin.  But I like them.  I don't really listen to them any more though.  But Stephen Christian is one of my favorite vocalists ever.  I got my hair highlighted because I saw them live once, and I loved his hair.

Anyways.  Cities is a great album.  They definitely break from their old stuff and take a more progressive stab at things.  Out of all their albums, it's the most dark feeling one.  "The Unwinding Cable Car" is my favorite track next to "Godspeed" or "Inevitable."

Their other two are great as well.  Blueprints for the Black Market has some great tracks on it.  But Never Take Friendship Personal feels slightly more mature and fulfilling.  Also, "Dance, Dance Christa Paffgen" and "Time & Confusion" are my favorite Anberlin songs out of their entire discography.

Lurk a little before you guys post.  If you haven't done much.  It'll help a lot.

I really liked their lyrics in "Blueprints for the Blackmarket". "Never Take Freindship Personal" never really caught my intrest, except for a few good songs which [like with you] remain my favorites.

Probably my top 5 favorites off of Cities would prolly be

5. "A Whisper and a Clamor"
4. "Godspeed"
3. "Dismantle, Repair"
2. "The Unwinding Cable Car"
1. "There is no mathematics between Love and Loss"

this prolly has alot to do with the fact that I prefer Rock over Acoustic though :)

Honestly, I think this is one of the worst places to post about Anberlin.

awww Murphy's Law at it's best  I was kind of wondering why I was getting harsh replies from some people.

Aw heck, why no love for *fin? That song is absolutely amazing. I listened to nothing else for a few days solid.

And yeah, I've got a bit of a man-crush on Stephen Christian.

You should take pictures and post them as he becomes successively balder.

Is there something wrong with Vin Diesal?  I like the guy.  But that's just me.  You could hate him.  Of course, I wouldn't know why.

oh I've just heard way to much of him. for a time he's been pretty much screamed into our minds by popular culture. I'm just kind of worn out. Vin Deisal's cool and everything.... but enough is enough.

I saw Anberlin live a few years back after a few friends dragged me to a DriveThru records gig...I can't say I'm a fan.
