Just saying.  The riff is pretty much the same, the syncopation is slightly different.  Iggy, you sleazy pederast, you.

Everybody's ripping off somebody, consciously or not.

But seriously, the MC5 were the worst rip off merchants ever.

Man, that still doesn't make it right.  And yeah I just noticed it because I just got Funhouse.  Thanks, Sendspace thread!

Well, I had heard the Rage Against the Machine cover of "Down On The Street," which is quite good actually.

Why did you capitalize "Herion Addiction?"  Is that a band or something?  I thought it was just that Kurt and Courtney were herion addicts.

I come from a family of pedants. I noticed that he capitalised that and it amused me briefly. But even I, the fruit of the union of a pedant father and a pedant mother, chose not to point it out.

You sir, are the king of all pedants.

Aneurysm

Admittedly this is a pretty good song, if just for the comically simple solo that's so bad it works. Nice chorus too. Really the only decent tune they penned though.

It's easy to say 'if a good band played these songs I'd like 'em' 'cos well, yeah, then Cobain's godawful voice and sloppy guitar playing wouldn't be fucking everything up. So a few modern bands probably could save a few Nirvana songs. And the other guys in the band had their moments. They were still gash as an overall package.

The only Nirvana album I ever cared for wasUnplugged. I always found it amusing that the only album I enjoyed by them was mostly not their music to begin with.

What are you talking about? Eight of the fourteen songs on that album are Nirvana originals!

Recently my music has had a distinctive Jandek quality to it. I basically got bored of ripping off early Palace records and decided to go straight to the source. Then it hit me. I could well steal a bunch of Jandek songs and no-one would ever catch on. Even if he found out, I can't see the Representative from Corwood Industries hauling my ass into court over it.

That would make for an awesome movie, though. "Coming this fall...Ron Perlman is a reclusive, mysterious musician whom no one has ever seen or interviewed. Tommydski is a con artist turned musician using his songs to make a name for himself. On Friday, October 22nd, they'll both be...Courting Jandek. Rated R."

See, now I'm picturing Tom Waits playing Jandek. Let's see where this train of thought ends up?

My train took me to 'Scarlett Johanson sings Jandek' and then I just stopped thinking altogether.
