I betcha can't say you've done this.
« on: 25 Aug 2007, 21:19 »

Today, I participated in the filming of a low-budget zombie flick.

My friend offered to bring me along to the set today (he's one of the main actors), and I of course agreed. I got slathered up with make-up, and then, I was just a zombie, wandering outside the house they were shooting in. It was so much fun; even though it was like, 100 degrees and we're working with absolutely no money (instead of low-budget, we all just call it "no-budget"), it was still fun as hell and there were a lot of opportunities to just hose myself down in fake blood for no reason.

Possibly the best parts were the parts filmed in public; the feeling me and my fellow zombies got as we wandered down busy roads and through crowded grocery markets while curious neighbors and bystanders stared in confusion is too good to be put into words. Don't expect a theater release any time soon (when I say we're working with no money, I mean that almost completely literally), but even if it never got anywhere beyond the group of people who made it (the guy in charge does plan to try and market it), just having the experience would be awesome enough.

I've heard of a number of people getting together in random public places in zombie costumes and just staggering a while for kicks and giggles but I've never participated.  This sounds perfect for youtube!

Zombie Walks, which pilsner describes, are great fun. I organize the Calgary Zombie Walk and last year we had something like 600 people come out for the event.

I'm working on putting together this year's event and we're expecting it to be huge... Friday night I staged a Ms Dead Calgary pageant and it was pretty awesome.

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube from previous year's zombie walks in Calgary: HERE

In St. Louis, we play zombie tag, zombie laser tag, zombie hide and seek, and zombie red rover. These games are beyond fun.

Also, this is headquartered in St. Louis. ZOMBIE SQUAD

One of the main guys of Zombie Squad was gonna pierce my noise, and we've talked about tattoos, but I've never got around to doing either.

There was a Zombie Shuffle in my neighbourhood on Thursday. I was really looking forward to it but I had to go to a conference at uni which ruined my entire week. There will be more Zombies next Saturday though at the annual goth festival. Should be fun!

I have done this! It turned out to be a very amusing little movie.

We did the thriller dance.

There was one of those organized zombie walks in San Francisco around the time Dead Rising was released. I wanted to go, but I had to work.

That happened at one point, but unfortunately, no one was filming. We all just got in a line, in the the pouring rain, and just started dancing around like idiots. The director said that if he was filming, he would've just thrown out all our previously recorded footage and released the film of us dancing as the movie.

Any time I see "Indian Thriller" pop up, I'm amazed it takes the chick over three minutes to scream and run away from the scene.

Does this mean he's going to join your band?

Well, no. But he works for Cheap Trx. A local shop that does tattoos and piercings, as well as sell some interesting umm....things. Every time that I've gone in there he's been there. He is usually the guy to talk to about those things. When I lived in south St. Louis, I was there a lot, so I know him fairly well.

The word "you" in this thread title is redundant. It should be either "I bet you can't etc" or "I betcha can't"

I thought low budget, "indie" zombie flicks were a dime a dozen these days.  I know of at least three that have been filmed on my campus in the past year or so.

I live in a painfully uninteresting town.

Things like this don't happen for me every day.

An awesome English/Pedagogy/Interactive Writing teacher at my university does a History of Zombie Culture class every j-term.  I took it last year and we spent one day of the class starting a zombie flash mob in the streets of Chicago, converting people as we went.  It was pretty much amazing.
