So therefore you have some undeniable and deep connection with him? You might have passed him on the street and not known about it! Why is that even the slightest bit important unless you actually knew him? Admittedly this sounds snarky but I just don't understand why people automatically think that coming from the same town (which now more refers to coming from the same city) as a famous person or even a quasi-famous person actually means anything.

It is just exciting to know that my city doesn't just produce shitty people, but also really interesting crazy kids tv show people as well. It's interesting, like how it is interesting that ice tea was first served in St. Louis, as was the waffle cone.

It's just interesting trivia.

I didn't watch it, but I saw that Elijah Wood was going to be on the premier episode and that made me giggle insanely for some reason...

C'mon, you just have to love that. And, if anyone didn't already know, it's the lead singer of this very band who created the show in the first place.

Whoo. I liked the bit about floaties and "Holy Gaucamole!"

I watched the ending thingy when it was on the other day. I am more of a Blue's Clues girl myself, I guess. (Joe is -cute-...)
I'll have to watch it if I am around the next time it is on. The creatures actually look cute and not creepy like on some kid shows (Doodlebops, anyone?)

THEY HAVE FELT MITTEN HANDS!!!
They are creepy, dude...and if you think they're hot, I think you need to get some psychological help... Eek, a Doodlebop fetish is just -wrong-. Deeply, deeply wrong...

All of this is what I aspire to be one day (I'm really not being facetious, I'm a child development major and enduring being the only guy in my internship.  Kids stuff is awesome).

I've been catching Yo! Gabba Gabba on TV. It is pretty quality. 10:30 AM EST on Nick Jr on weekdays (sometimes it plays also at 1 PM). I was watching today and I kept being scared that somebody was going to walk in on me. It was sort of like porn.

EDIT: For the record, a ton of parents hate this show. I've heard a lot complain that it's annoying, has no educational merit, etc. I think it's great, though - kids need to be exposed to creativity at an early age. And to quality music.

Steve was definitely tops.

My friend and I saw this show literally 20 minutes after I saw this thread.  I was glad I had read the thread, cause that made us not skip over it.  The show is great.  We genuinely enjoyed it, and as I noted, being a Child Development major, I thought it was well done.

Yeah, I've heard a ton of parents bitching about it too, but I don't understand why. Maybe it isn't teaching kids how to count or say the alphabet, but hell, its getting them to get off their butts and dance! Kids need more shows that will get the active. Childhood obesity is at its worst right now and any show the encourages movement is great. This show has the whole dancey dance segment, plus tons of times they play music and show everyone dancing, which is bound to get kids moving around.

And then you have the whole tummy party thing. Kids love that, and I know it will get more kids to eat everything. I live with 7 kids under the age of 10. I know how impressionable kids are. I refuse to drink or smoke around them. I don't want them to pick up my bad habits. I know that they will be more willing to finish all the food on their plates just because some big furry monster says it's cool.

Kids need art. I may be biased on this subject, having grown up in a very "art encouraging" environment. In preschool, I went to four different art classes a day. My mom bought me every art supply I every wanted. She encouraged me to draw, paint, taking pictures, etc. When I was in third or fourth grade we painted a mural on our basement wall. I mean, art definitely needs to be encouraged in kids. Kids should be creative. Kids should be allowed to experience all of that.

And I know a lot of parents were bitching about the Biz Markie part, and I can kinda see why. I mean, who really wants their kids spitting everywhere he he is trying to beatbox? Although, a beat boxing kid would be awesome.

...I do not like Steve -on the show-, however I will admit that I used to be a pretty big Steven fan, and when he's not in his striped shirt, -damn- that man is pretty hawt. I like Joe though 'cause he's not like tall and pointed, he's more round and friendly looking (not that I'm saying he's fat...'cause he's not), and he doesn't wear the same damn shirt every flippin' episode.

Nick Jr. is way awesome. It has the best shows. Screw Disney.

The idea of teaching kids isn;t always about cramming as much knowledge into their heads as possible, either.  Whoever noted that parents counting on Nick to teach their kids was also spot on.

I still disagree. Joe has that "I'm munna rape you...." face. He is creepy. Steve is just cute and adorable and you just wanna pinch his cheeks, give him a cookie, pat his head and send him on his way.
