Rock Themed Wedding Suggestions
« on: 16 Sep 2007, 11:03 »

Ok, Me and the fiance are looking for some suggestions for music for our wedding. The problem is we have a theme we can't find more than a single track for.

We want classical music play on contemporary instruments. We want classical music set to fucking electric guitars and shit.

This is all we have for the music thus far:

Tool - Parabola (for the hymn, yes it doesn't necessarily fit the classical theme, but that's beside the point))
Queen - The Wedding March (for the Wedding March obviously)

We're more than a little clueless as to who might have done these kinds of covers, but we figure there has to be something out there what with all of the classical covers of rock music and with all of the rock music heavily inspired by classical music. Especially when it comes to say the Bridesmaid Procession, since it has to be slow enough for them to walk down the aisle to.

Any suggestions at all, even if you can't think of an actual cover would be greatly appreciated.

Um.

Um.

If you are marrying a Tool/Queen fan I kind of recommend you rethink this whole "wedding" thing.

A cousin of mine had an all-Danzig wedding. I don't know if that's advisable for you, though.

What about orgasmic chemistry.

I can expand the definition of that if anyone wants to roll around to my Fortress of Love.

Peaches's classic "Fuck the Pain Away" is actually constructed around carefully lifted themes from Carl Maria von Weber's "Variations for Cello and Orchestra".

If you don't believe me then you should explore for yourself.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

You could do all Bob Dylan love songs like "Tonight I'll be Staying Here With You" (among other songs on Nashville Skyline) or "Shelter From the Storm" or "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" off of Blood On The Tracks.  An upbeat Cure themed wedding might work too ("Friday I'm In Love", "Let's Go to Bed" or "Close To Me").

But these are just some of my tastes, I don't know what you like.
