One of the ads for the book strikes me as rather ridiculous.  "You're reading John Dies at the End.  And incredible 97% of people who buy this book give it 5 stars."  I don't know about the rest of you, but personally, I find that the Amazon star ranking are one of the worst indicators of the quality of a product, especially with books.

Joss Whedon has never made a bad series or comic book.

EVER.

I disagree, as I am quite enjoying Buffy Season 8 in comic form.

i haven't read season 8 yet, but i've heard only good things.  i also enjoyed the firefly comics and am looking forward to another one comming out soon.  i've heard mixed reviews about the rest of his stuff.  i get the feeling that die-hard fans (i can be one at times, but only when it comes to his film-work) tend to think his farts smell like rainbows, and others say they don't like his stuff, but are really just annoyed with his fans.  i think saying he "pumps out a lot of shit" or "has never made a bad series or comic book" are both unwarranted exagerations.

or maybe you guys are being sarcastic and i'm thinking too much.  that tends to happen.

Now, see, his comic books were shit, so I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. The important thing to note is, even though Whedon's comics were terrible they're nowhere near as bad as JDatE.

JDatE is fucking horrible.

Really? Astonishing X-Men, Buffy Season 8, and Fray are terrible? Really?

Can we talk about the book?
This book reads very heavy-handedly.   I am already bored of this world filled with florid writing concerning women, a great deal of cursing (show not tell, class!), and supposed ironic wordings that simply fall flat.
This is nowhere near Gaiman caliber.  At least it's free, but so is my library.

ETAA
(Did they seriously just include the haunted eBay painting?  Hands Hold Him In, I think it's called?  Is this a parody?)

There are already enough books on the internet that are well worth reading that are legally available for free.

there's also WOWIO.com

This is getting good, I'm at the part where the girl bursts into snakes. I like the writing style a lot, not to be too much of a jackass but it sounds a lot like how I write. Only a couple instances of better imagery.

The author is obsessed with cocks.
Seriously.
The author must subscribe to the theory of "horror? just add cocks."
This isn't scary; not really.
Unless you are afraid of cocks, in which case I recommend it.
