Fruity Loops
« on: 20 Sep 2008, 17:12 »

I just got a torrent of Fruity Loops. Haven't tried it yet, but I wanna know, is it any good? Or did I just waste my time and 99 MB?

I just wanna make some beats and synth tracks with it, pretty much it.

I know Kari uses it, but does she come around here anymore?

Fruity loops is great for what you are looking for, if a bit daunting at first look.

Basically just poke around until you find out what you are trying to do.

Kari was in Gabbly a few nights ago.

I have played with the demo at various points and found Fruity Loops is fun to mess around with. I'm terribly inept at accomplishing anything substantial, though. Also, plenty of the dudes at Overclocked Remix use it to some degree in their work.

I use FL Studio (the proper name nowadays) for most of my musical endeavours. I have made and sold more albums than Hat so his opinion is completely invalid.

It is a fairly powerful tool, provided you have the right VST plugins. The defaults are gash unless you are good with mixing and layering effects.

It does not require MIDI interfacing, though it supports it.

OK, sweet. Thx. I like the name, Halo Of Flies is my fave Cooper tune.

Anyways, my torrent for FL Studio 8.0 didn't work and had viruses, so I'm trying a different one.

I enjoy using FL Studio, but I am having trouble with the FPC drum machine. I can't figure out how to adjust the velocity of certain drum hits without leaving some the way they are, for example I want the crash at a higher volume and the kick drum at a lower one. I can just manually adjust each hit's velocity without also adjusting another hit's velocity, but that's way too much time. Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? If you do, could you please help me?

Try HammerHead.

That's what I use for drum loops.

In the plugin window that pops up for the FL drumsynth you can tweak the sounds of each individual drum noise. You have to remember when you're doing this that each drum sound appears at four or five different points on the piano roll, and you can tweak each one, so you have to make sure you have the right one.
