i thought it would be kinda cool if you were in a band and you are on the forums to share your music.

i play guitar in followed by ghosts. we play post rock (think explosions, mogwai, laura, godspeed) and its pretty fun. we just released an album. the myspace and cdbaby sites are provided. check it out.

Very impressive, I gotta say. I'm loving the tracks on myspace. They're rather beautiful, have a very good intensity and, to my great surprise, are not overly derivative of the bands that obviously influence your work. I love to hear piano in "post-rock" songs like these so the addition of that is very nice as well. This doesn't quite hold true for the other two songs on the site but the first one that starts playing is quite nice and the non-office one is certainly quite good as well (though less impressive).

i thought it would be kinda cool if i created an account on this forum i have clearly not spent any time lurking on and made my first post ever to start a topic for the purpose of pimping my band to a bunch of fags

There have been topics like this before.  Do we need more?

In his defense, it's been a while since the last one and he'd get yelled as just as much for necroposting.

No music up yet, but feel free to add us. We will hopefully be recording soon. We play fuzzed up garage rock with heavy blues, psych, and punk influences.

Also, in case Tommy or Johnny read this thread, we're warm and punchy.

Fantastic stuff, theboxflower.

While I don't have a band of my own, a friend of mine from my old job has an electronica project that I actually really dig. His myspace is here, and his first album is a free download right from that site. I like it a lot, and I don't even really listen to electronic music.

I'm in a black metal band called Isgahaatt. I feel we're pretty good. We have a gig on at the Lewisham Hotel on the 22nd of November for anyone who is interested and in the area.

The guitarist in the black metal band also has a little atmospheric electronica side project going on that just got picked up by some underground label from America. Good for him. You can listen to his stuff here.

My one man acoustic black metal thingy's kinda gone electric, so I'm not sure it's actually ABM anymore.

Plus I don't have any songs recorded yet, or a proper name. I'm thinking "Jamaican Necrobobsled Team".

guys, me and some friends are going to be recording an EP called "The Truth About Bears" very soon. Each song will cover a different aspect of the life of a grizzly bear and last song (The Truth About Bears) will be an overall retrospective of the previous tracks. we don't have all our instruments lined up yet or know what we're gonna call ourselves but that doesn't really matter.

you will all be the first to know when it's finished.

The other two are indie pop/lo-fi bands. The Inclined Plane and Honey.

Uhm...I'm collaborating with my friend Mike, and we call ourselves: Fetcher.  We have one song recorded, which you have to turn your volume up really high to hear it.  I'm not sure why.  Our second song should be up within a month or two.  I'm saying a month or two because Mike lives two hours away, and I only get up there once a month or so.

I'm also in a band called The Nettles.  We're a three piece rock band.  We have no songs up, one song written, and haven't practiced in at least a month.  Go us.

I have a coiuple of projects. The best one is Halo of Flies. Here is the myspace: http://www.myspace.com/haloofflies and here is the last.fm page: http://www.last.fm/music/Halo+Of+Flies where you can listen to all my released music that doesn't suck. I share the name with some crappy punk band, but it's pretty easy to differentiate between the two. I'm the one offering free, full streaming of all my tracks and copious downloads, they're the ones who were trying to sell their music on my myspace page. In case you're still confused, my releases are:

Solar Symphony
The Blasted Heath
Huxley Orwell Overdrive
World War Zero

There's also Death Throes, which is a significantly more insane noise/industrial/metal/whatever project. I've only released one EP under that moniker (Signal Decay), but I have been working on an album (Death Throes Seriously Harms You and Others Around You) for about two years now. The myspace is here: http://www.myspace.com/deaththroes  and the last.fm, where you can stream the EP in a similiar fashion is here: http://www.last.fm/music/Death+Throes. If you listen to music loudly I suggest you adjust your equipment, as some Death Throes material has been deliberately mastered in order to damage speakers because I was feeling like a dick at the time and have never bothered to change it.

I also have a neo-folk project, Ill Met By Moonlight, myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/illmetbymoonlightmusic. I have only recorded one song for this project with what I consider to be satisfactory quality, though I have over an album of songs written, both originals and interpretations of traditional ballads and whatnot.

I play 2nd guitar in a band called 'A Bomb for the Pentagon'. It's instrumental, 'post-rock'-ish stuff but much louder and with no xylophone interludes. I don't know what to compare it to or what it sounds like. It's loud. There's a lot of delay.

I just finished recording an album with a reggae/hip-hop band called Rumpunch. Then I left the band.

As of last week, I'm playing/DJ-ing 8-bit and chiptune music using decks and gameboys under the name Przewalski's Horse. I've had one gig so far at a warehouse party thing. Nothing recorded yet.

I'm also recording with some other guys called Decorated General.

I'll have a listen to everyone's stuff when I get home from work.

My "band" http://www.myspace.com/amphibiotic
I used to do ambient noisy stuff, but now its just whatever mood I'm in at the time.
Ventriloquism is my most recent track, and I'm kind of happy with how it turned out.
But then i got all post rock cliche and put radio recordings underneath.

It just felt like the right thing to do.

Okay so this started as a complete and total joke band, but as both of us have learned more and more about music and have discovered some programs that will help in musical creation, each recording we do is a little bit more actual-music-like than the last.
DEATH TAKES ITS TOLL ON THE MASSES:
http://www.myspace.com/deathtakesitstollonthemasses

Second "band" is really just myself playing around in Garageband.  Two tracks are made from Garageband loops, one is a satirical mostly-vocal recording, and one is me playing with effects.
LCSE:
http://www.myspace.com/lcse

Ambient type tracks I've made.  Don't know what else to say.  Listen and enjoy.
http://www.myspace.com/diaemus

ENJOY EVERYONE!

Oh and by the way, theboxflower, I'm loving "followed by ghosts".  Similar to other Post Rock, I can definetly sense some GSY!BE influence, but that is in NO WAY a bad thing.  The only thing I dislike about "A Silver Mt. Zion" (basically GSY!BE number 2) is that it doesn't sound enough like the Godspeed.
Also, The Office theme is hilarious, and wins some bonus points.

our recordings are kinda old and we're playing a bit rough in places because we pretty much had to teach the drummer the songs while recording.

Sam, I really like the lyrics to your song thats a long stream of random letters.

Quick question for people to ponder- With regard to personal bands, I was wondering whether you thought posting show dates on this site is legitmate music discussion or just spammy?  I've seen several people do it, and I'm probably the biggest offender.  My band has a lot of shows coming up in a short stretch and I've sort of decided to hold off on any sort of posting to avoid mucking up the boards.  Thoughts, comments, further questions?

Yeah, I understand your point.  To be honest, I have only had two people from Phoenix respond to show posting, and have only met one person who came out as a result (thanks Celtic Geek!).  If there are more Phoenicians on here, I haven't seen them.  That said, putting a post up for two people when I already have a myspace seems a bit excessive and may lead to cluttering up the board.  Maybe, if there are more people interested, we could have a sticky'd thread for show postings, if the mods are so inclined?  Just a thought...

I've been working on starting up a funny little band with the name of ManCrush, its like ska, and it would suck. We don't have guitarists or bassists, or drummers, but you know, thats why it sucks. It would be ridiculously bad if we could get our act together. Think of the worst sci-fi movie you've ever seen, now make it a musical.

So I decided to put a myspace up for the noise/drone I've been doing lately.

If anyone does gigs in Sydney, I'm always keen to know about them. Including recommendations of other bands. Spamming or not, there isn't a very good forum for live music in Australia. Or at least, I haven't found one... most of them seem pretty narrow genre-wise. I'm pretty into the idea of one thread with recommendations for upcoming gigs.

that's me, NegativeCreep plus various other people. Basically just a lot of weird noises but we pretend it's super-avantgarde so we can look down on shitty metalcore bands ;)

also I've been messing around with some minimal/electro tunes, but that's going kinda slow lately because ableton live refuses not to crash as soon as I use any effects... www.myspace.com/vaihtovirta
