Mafia Round Two
« on: 27 Nov 2007, 19:11 »

Every "night" the town goes to "sleep". During this time all main characters PM me their choices. If you are Mafia, I will tell you who your partners are and you shall discuss who you want to kill and then PM me your decision. (If you feel like coming up with how they die, feel free to suggest something, or you can let me do it.) If you are the Sheriff, you will PM me a name of someone (only one name) who you suspect is in the mafia and I will answer you with a yes or a no. If you are the Medic, you will PM me the name of the person you wish to save from attack, which can include yourself. (You will not be told who the target is, you have to guess for yourself.) If you are the village idiot or a townsperson, you don't PM me anything, just wait until the round starts. When I PM you your role, I will repeat the instructions for your role for clarity.

When the round starts, we will discover who died and how. If someone is saved, you will only find out that there was an attempt on someone's life, but I won't say who was attacked. Either way, this is when the townspeople band together and try to decide who is in the mafia. In this thread, you post who you think is in the mafia. If you suspect more than one person, you can voice that, but please only accuse one person (for trial purposes). The first person to get 5 accusations (2 when there's less than 5 people) will be put on trial. During the trial, the accused will give their testimony for their defence and then the townspeople will vote Guilty or Not Guilty. Majority rules and if found guilty, the accused is sentenced to death (removed from the game), and if found innocent, they are allowed to continue to play and we move to the next round. We play until either all the mafia members are found guilty or the mafia kills off everyone else.

As soon as we get 20 people I will put your names in a generator and randomly assign you your roles and PM them to you. I'll put the town to sleep and then awake them when I get all the key role responses.

That's how we're playing. I will send out the roles once I've randomly generated them.

Once again I must ask that the deceased and non-players post only in italics and please do not give away any spoilers.

As people die I will be striking them off the list below. So check back to this post when you want to see who's been killed and how.

When voting please use bold lettering as I'm probably doing this early in the morning/late at night and am not always going to be able to see everything.

Good luck everyone.

1. Axerton - Killed by Sherrif

2. Ampersandwitch - Poisoned by Mafia, it was a pretty rough scene.

3. october1983 - Strung up by Mafia

4. Misconception - Throat-shot by town's Sherrif

18. Boro Bandito - Killed by Mafia; His house asplode!

Well I figured I can't stop you from posting. This way if people only want to read the posts of the people playing it makes it easier. Also I then know whose votes count.

Everyone wins!

It was a warm Summer night in Everytown, USA when the killings first began. The Mafia's first victim was out walking their dog when they noticed a black car trundling slowly up the road beside them. The backseat window rolled down and a dark voice from inside muttered something indecipherable. October1983 began walking a little faster, feeling nervous. As he rounded the corner he looked over his shoulder to see if the car was still there. It was, but it was parked and two people got out and entered one of the houses. October1983 breathed a sigh of relief, chuckling to himself over his silly nervousness. Nothing sinister ever happened in Everytown, he was probably jumping to conclusions because of that Mafia movie he was watching earlier. Almost exactly the same thing had happened in the film except that when the victim had turned the corner...

Later that night the Sherrif found october1983's body swinging from a streetlight, his face tight and swollen, the noose having cut the skin around his neck as it tightened. As the Sherrif walked to the patrol car to call in the forensic team there was a movement in the nearby alleyway. Could it be that the murderer was still in the vicinity? The Sherrif walked slowly towards the alleyway, diving behind some garbage bins as soon as the cocking of a gun was heard. After an intense firefight the Sherrif heard a strangled cry and the sound of feet pounding on the pavement, away from the scene of the crime. The Sherrif pulled out a flashlight and surveyed the grisly scene. Lying in the alley, surrounded by bullet shells was Misconception with a gaping wound in her neck. As the Sherrif drew nearer Misconception gurgled "Fuck you, Sherrif. The Mafia still owns this town..."

Two people have died tonight people but you still have to vote!

So get to it fuckers!

Wait, we've already got one of the mafia members?... that was easy.

Well, I hate to be the one to cast the first stone, but I Vote Rally Monkey, I dunno there's just something fishy about him. Also its obvious that all this trouble has been stirred up by a newcomer to the town, and he was the last person to join,  coincidence? I doubt it.

From sheriff to mafia? Talk about corruption in the police force! But I don't really know who to blame for this yet, still too early.

I'm confused by how the sheriff works. If s/he guesses someone who's in the mafia, the person in the mafia dies? It doesn't seem like that's what it implies in the rules.

I'm sorry I should have mentioned the following.

The role of the Sherrif is much like the role of the Tracker in the Werewolf games. They choose someone to watch and if that person is in the Mafia, or indeed a werewolf, they get killed during the night phase. That's how it goes and the game will move quicker for it.

Addition because I'm badly organised: If the Sherrif chooses to watch the person that the Mafia targets for death then the Sherrif will also "buy it" as it were.

So wait, first you jump on the bandwagon to get him on trial, and then you change your mind on a whim? Remember how many rounds were wasted in the last game by putting someone on trial and then setting them free?

Frankly, I think the whole "vote for them twice" thing is stupid. Werewolves was much more effective; vote once, move to the next round.

At the end of the trial the townspeople decide that Rallymonkey be put to death. Some argue that he is too simple to have commited the heinous murder, others claiming that yes, he is an idiot but that doesn't change the fact that he brutally killed an innocent man.

As RallyMonkey is led away to the shark tank he hums to himself happily, seemingly unaware of the fate that awaits him. As he is led up the stairs the townspeople here him protest to the guards that he isn't wearing a swimming costume and couldn't possibly get in the water with his clothes on, it just isn't done. After a few minutes one of the guards hits him on the back of the head, knocking him unconcious. One of the guards takes a small penknife and slits both of RallyMonkeys wrists, letting the blood drip into the already frothing water tank. The crowd watches grimly as the young man is thrown into the tank, taking satisfaction that justice was done. Some turn away from the sight of the body being torn apart. Others watch still as the water turns a deep red and the thrashing continues.

Sleep now townspeople. Dream fitful, torrid dreams of the man you put to death and hope to whatever god you hold dear that you made the right decision.

Roles, PM me your decisions. The game continues.

As the town recovered from the grisly events of the past few days things began to get a little more relaxed. The sky seemed clearer and the birds chirped happily. One person who wasn't so relaxed was the soon-to-be-annihilated Ampersandwitch. She had been receiving death threats for weeks and had yet to tell anyone of the harrowing nights she had spent, terrified at every sound.
It was late afternoon when it happened. The sun was setting and Ampersandwitch was sitting on her verandah with a fresh cup of coffee. She breathed in the dark aroma and the satisfying heat of the cup spread from her hands up to her shoulders and into her heart. She was not shaking for the first time in days and was determined to relax. After a few deep breaths she managed to spill a good portion of the hot liquid all over herself as she jumped when the phone rang inside the house. Swearing loudly she put the cup down and ran inside. On the other end of the phone was a man from one of the charities she regularly donated to, asking if she would like to take part in a raffle. By the time she managed to get rid of him Ampersandwitch found her coffee had cooled. She settled herself back into her chair, unaware of the shadowy figures hiding in the bushes. As she took a sip of the still warm liquid she looked down and noticed a small envelope lying on the wooden boards of the verandah. Sure that it was another note she tried desparately to ignore it and enjoy her coffee but still her hands trembled. As the minutes ticked by her hands began to shake more and more. Steadying herself she drained the cup and picked up the envelope. Inside was a slip of paper with a single word that had been painstakingly written in delicate lettering. Bleed. Ampersandwitch dropped the note as she noticed her hands throbbing and shaking even more. Blood had started to leak from underneath her fingernails, touching her hands to her upper lip, they came away bloody.

The police would later discover that she had been poisoned, the chemical agent that was slipped into her coffee cup thinning her blood until it ran from her eyes and ears and eventually through the very pores of her skin. But who would have wanted to hurt the poor, innocent girl?

Well? Who?

Ampersandwitch would have been my first guess. I probably would have been wrong. I have no idea

I bet he did it. He looks and sounds guilty. Not Guilty

I'm willing to wager that RallyMonkey was anything but the village idiot. Lord Nagash all but proclaimed Rally Monkey's guilt from the hilltops, and then tried to acquit him 3 hours after the final guilty vote had been cast?

I vote Lord Nagash, just for being contrary.
