I'm so indie that I actually still like Bright Eyes even though I guess it's not cool to do so anymore.

It is the band of the man we all learned to love to laugh at through these forums: Conor Oberst.

I was laughing the first time I read the lyrics for the songs on LIFTED.

I so totally win this thread for liking country. I swear every time I recommend country on the music forum there is at least one person who starts being a shitcunt about it.

Wouldn't it depend on the extent to which you like country? Everybody feels safe in liking Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson or maybe even Merle Haggard. Sort of like how everybody feels safe in liking the Clash, but that doesn't mean everybody who likes the Clash likes punk rock.

I mean, if you wanted to truly be indie you'd like Garth Brooks, or at least Chris Gaines.

I'm so indie and not-gay that I can admit to liking Pink, Shania Twain, and Duran Duran.  I don't care what you think.

Except you damn well better think I am indie.  Otherwise I will frown and do absolutely nothing about it.

I drink the overly-roasted Starbucks brand of coffee despite the foul flavor and overcommercialization because it makes a statement. I am stronger than their capitalist agendas. They created their own market which popularized hipster coffee shop culture, and the 'true' hipsters left, and only the truest hipsters, me, myself and I, remain as a testament to true stand-outery.

I also smoke weed for the same reasons.

So you inconvenience yourself in an effort to make a statement that no one is going to hear, and everyone will get the opposite idea about you, all for the sake of segregating yourself into your own idea of what it is to be an individual? You go right ahead with that. I'm gonna go for quality over something no one cares about.
And such is my summary of the idea of "indie." But, for those of you who simply enjoy things that aren't mainstream, kudos, I've watched/seen some good indie stuff in my time.

In summary, I'm so indie, I am indie about the whole idea of indie and listen to pretty much everything, indie or not.
