When on earth is this Make Believe album going to leak? I'm getting really impatient. In 2007 I didn't hear ANY new music by a Kinsella, despite that soundtrack coming out!
Edit: Wait, I heard some Birthmark songs. They were okay.

I tracked down a copy of the soundtrack.  Really good.  But then, I forgot to rip it to my computer before I came back to Montreal.  Stupid me.

And Tommy, I'd heard the rumour of that, but I hadn't realized it was so for certain.

They were a band from Chicago that recorded one truly incredible record back in 2001.

I think that record basically stands alone. It's absolutely remarkable. Sort of like a weird blend of indie rock, jazz, lounge? All of those terms sound stupid. It's just a really fucking amazing album, basically. Their guitarist is like nothing you've ever heard before. Unfortunately he had a heroin dependency that made him really difficult to get on with and they could never get it together again for long enough to record another album. If you can find that album, upload it to the Mediafire thread. It's really good.

I'm not entirely sure what's coming out this year, I usually don't hear about it until about a week before it comes out. Of those that I do know:

Opeth
Mastodon
Meshuggah
Agalloch?

[EDIT- Boris too]

Heh, seems the only bands I know that are bringing albums out that I'll look foward to are metal.

metallica (maybe)

One of their live performances of new material on youtube contained what was disturbingly close to yodelling. From my viewpoint, it looks like they haven't even began to level out after their great fall that began with the black album.

Tim asked them all if they wanted to play together again.

They all said "Yes".

Holy.

Quote from: wikipedia
On November 11, 2006, Pallett posted to a fan forum to announce a new album, tentatively titled Heartland, presumably to be released in mid to late 2007.[7] Subsequently on July 9, 2007 on the CBC Radio One program Q, Pallett said that the album would be released no earlier than mid 2008. In the same interview he confirmed that it would be titled Heartland, a name chosen specifically as a response to criticism of the perceived offensiveness of the name He Poos Clouds, and that the name was selected before any of the music had been written.

I think the New New Year album is definitely gonna come out in 08. Matt mentioned it on the forums, he said he wanted to get everybody together 'soon'. The impression I got was late 07/early 08.
A new Owls record would be pretty great, but that's still just a rumour, and it still might not end up like the Owls from 2001. The new Make Believe is already finished!!!

To be honest, the album I'm most looking forward to is I Am The Messer by Killola. I've heard previews and live versions of some of the tracks that are going on there and I get the feeling it'll be just as good as Louder, Louder.

I know I'm just rehashing old ground here, but seriously: I've just listened to "Waving Flags", the new British Sea Power single, and I cannot wait for this album to come out. My friendly local record store proprietor tells me that the imported version is going to be "so expensive" in Australia, but I don't know if I can wait for a local release. If anybody can tell me of any other bands that are writing and performing incredibly exciting anthemic rock songs about welcoming Eastern European immigrants to Britain, I'll go and check them out too.

I demand a new Cake album and subsequent tour. B-sides and Rarities was weak. Not counting that, they haven't come out with anything since 2004, and the longest they've ever waited between albums was three years. If they're counting B-sides, then they can go to hell.
New Weezer full length? Here's to hoping.
I think Self is coming out with a new album... Does anyone listen to Self? Even among indie friends, I'm always the ones to show them Self.
Maybe a Defiance, Ohio album if it comes out really late. They came out with one this year, but it was only like, 20 minutes, and the one before that was in 2006.
The Decemberists are totally due.
Bomb the Music Industry make albums like rabbits multiply, so it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll come out with one (if not two) albums this year.
Ben Folds hasn't come out with a new studio since 2005. I'd say he's due.
Maybe a full length from Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. Actually, I'd be surprised if that came out this century.
Also, maybe if I sell my soul there will be a slim possiblitiy that Bear Vs. Shark will get back together and make a new album. Maybe.
