Yes, I *did* just make an account to talk about music.

I agree that a new Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution album would be orgasmic. We've had less than one BOTAR song a year. Get it together, Kalnoky!

I'll have to get that British Sea Power album. :3

Also, while it came out in 07, A Julius Orange put their debut up for free in 08, and seeing as it was never really "sold" I count it here. With bandwidth issues, I had to pick just a few tracks to show you. It was hard, and now I'm second-guessing myself. xD

Sad, Black, Bright
The Young Fool's Waltz
Prayer for Patience

Sadly, I can't find a similar excuse to count Keep it Going as an 08 release. So I won't mention Keep it Going. Not at all.

Apparently there is a new Joanna Newsom album coming out this year and it'll be more poppy than the previous? Though the previous was five ten or so minute songs. I'll be eager to hear more about this.

Cheers to everyone else who is excited about the new (hopefully in 2008) My Bloody Valentine album - it will be marvelous to hear what Kevin Shields is brewing up.

So far The Mars Volta is my #1, Black Mountain is my #2 and Jose James is my #3, I can guarantee TMV will stay, but the other two are likely to get bumped. Opeth, Kayo Dot, and Agalloch are almost automatic locks, and Meshuggah, In Flames, and Machinae Supremacy all have decent chances also. It should be a good year for metal at least.

Fantastic! Those guys have never put out any bad material to date and have been very consistent while making each full length subtly different. I can't wait to hear what the next one sounds like. It seems like the last album came out and nobody noticed.

The new Genghis Tron is fairly badass. Not for everyone but it's awesomely intense and, like all their releases, has killer instrumentals.

The first House of Broken Promises album comes out soon. House of Broken Promises is essentially Unida without John Garcia, and what I've heard is pretty damn good. It's nothing groundbreaking, but pretty solid nonetheless.

There something about the Boris album that's not really doing it for me. Maybe I was expecting too much (like a straight-forward followup to Pink). Pretty good, though.

So far, I'm loving Dead Meadow, Black Mountain, Shelby Lynne, Bon Iver, Drive-By Truckers, and Allison Moorer. I haven't given the new Nick Cave enough listens to give a strong opinion.

Haven't heard the brand new Tift Merritt or Kathleen Edwards, but I have high hopes for both.

I've been listening to Anita Lipnicka & John Porter - Goodbye for the past few days.

Best "Americana" release I've heard in ages, and she's Polish.

Can I just say? I'm about to go see British Sea Power live. End of tour show, homecoming to Brighton, it's going to be mental. Ha ha! I'll give you a detailed report tomorrow.

In the nicest possible way, I think I might hate you. I wanted to go to that SO BADLY.

First album of the year to get me all excited:

I Was A Cub Scout - I Want You To Know That There Is Always Hope. It was worth it just for the re-working of Pink Squares.

Albums that should be awesome: Tilly & The Wall, and hopefully debuts from Grammatics, Maths Class and This City...

And there's a huge part of me that's really curious about the new Panic at the Disco album, too...

Now they just need to take the words out of their name along with out of their song titles and the members out of their band and we're done.

Fear not, Tommy, it'll take more than a spot of AIDS spewing to spur me away from my favourite haven of musical condescension...

People, people... I like Panic at the Disco. And a whole bunch of fringe-adorned bands that would make most musos squirm in repulsion. I even run an emo-centric club night, but I can't be arsed to defend my right to like emo pop again because oH MY GOD it's been done to death.

And to avoid total derailment of this thread, I'm going to express my enthusiasm for the upcoming Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Klaxons albums...

And, like, sorry for not being cool and stuff.

fair play, that's significantly worse than panic at the disco (extraneous punctuation notwithstanding) so kinda defuses that conversation
