I, in a moment of youthful naivety, neglected to wear earplugs when I went to see Muse in 2003, on the Absolution Tour. The gig was okay, but it's the loudest fucking thing I've ever heard, before or since, and basically, I have extremely mild but notable tinnitus now. I'm not saying it's Muse's fault, cause I didn't wear earplugs (but then most people don't seem to...) but I just can't listen to them extensively any more because the ringing is never going away, basically. I wear earplugs excessively now.

Muse fans seem to resemble cult followers who worship the band as Gods with Matthew Bellamy as the Zeus of the pantheon.

This makes some people hate Muse without ever bothering to give their music a good listen just because the cultlike fans are such a turnoff for them.

That is my stance.

Personally, I love some of their songs, hate others, and find the rest tolerable provided I don't blast them from the speakers. Out of the small fraction of their tracks that I've heard, that is.

I happen to like Muse quite a bit, and thought their live show (Portland 07) was really, really good.

That said, that was one of the worst performances of Showbiz I have ever seen.

This is why I said Ugh.  They're not a bad band, but some of their fans are ridiculous.

I think with any band you are going to get some "ridiculous" fans though. I like muse but I'm not all "BLAH MUSE BEST BAND EVER BLAH BLAH" . I've heard there live show is really good, I wouldn't mind seeing them at some point.

I know that. I just think there are a lot more of them for Muse than for most bands. I know three different girls who have changed their facebook religious beliefs section to indicate that they worship Muse.

Look, just because I'd unquestioningly take a bullet for Matt without ever having met him, it doesn't mean I'm a fanatic.

You've gone from epic fail to epic win in the space of a few posts, man.

Assuming you're being deliberately funny. If you're not, then you fail even more.

Mine was Black Sabbath for a while, but now it's "Be excellent to each other."

Mine has pretty much perpetually been a Naked Lunch quote:

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.
