Now this is a birthday thread I think might go over at least relatively well.

That being said Legos are the greatest toy ever. Unfortunately as a child, my mother refused to by them for me so I had to steal all of them that my brother had. Twerp had about ten different sets and I had none. Damn you mom.

Legos - You are awesome, but too freaking expensive. You should fix that.

Also, quit it with the specific kit things. I wanted to buy a bin of legos last November, but NO, no bins of regular, old legos. Just Star Wars and HP and castles. I just wanted legos.

I remember when I used to make some custom sets and make Barbie manly, manly G.I. Joe play in them.

Seriously though, I have that 400-pieces box of "freestyle" lego. I love Lego.
Plus, we have to make those robots out of legos at school for our computer/science class and it's damn fun.

Thumbs up for Lego

What.

Also, while I'm on it, can we decide whether the plural of lego is legos, or just lego?

My vote is legos, because it sounds cuter!

We have had this argument many times, and I still insist that the correct them is Lego. One piece of Lego, a set of Lego, multiple Lego pieces.

There was this Gabbly argument about it many moons ago. It just ended with everyone thinking whoever said it the other way were weirdos.

I vote for Legos, myself.

Sorry, but when do you actually need to use the plural of Lego?
It's like bread, you don't say I have two breads, it needs a quantifier, such as loaf or slice. The same way as Lego needs piece or set or box ect and you pluralize those.

I never got to play with legos much. I remember one of my best friends got so mad at me once because I started taking apart a pirate ship he had made with legos. I remember going, "What? You meant you don't use them to build anymore? That's lame."
Then I found out a couple of weeks ago my boyfriend has lego models of Star Wars things in the hall closet. It's kinda cute, but still, I would want to take it apart and build something else.
It reminds me of people who frame their puzzles. I never really got that.

If you really want to nitpick the grammar of it, neither "lego" nor "legos" is ever correct, it should always be "LEGO".  There is no plural form of that particular word, since it is the brand name.  You can have multiple LEGO bricks, but there is no such thing as "LEGOS".  If you don't believe me, feel free to spend as much time as you want surfing http://www.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx for an example to prove me wrong, but I don't think you'll find one.

For the record I'm quite aware that it is lego as opposed to legos, but I prefer the latter for reasons stated above, and i'll define my own lexicon if I goddamned want to.

A Typical Conversation As Gryff And Princy Play With Lego (a short play in one act):

Gryff: Hey Princy, you want to build something out of Lego?
Princy: Sure Gryff, I'll go and get the Lego box.

Princy leaves the stage, and returns with a large box of Lego. They begin rummaging through it.

Princy: Hmn, I'm looking for a thin red piece that's eight clicky things long. Can you see one?
Gryff: Is this the bit you're looking for?
Princy: Yes! Thanks, that's it. Now can you pass me that blue brick next to your foot?
Gryff: I sure can. Lego is fun!
Princy: Agreed! Isn't it wonderful that Australians and New Zealanders can be brought together by the magic of Lego?

I wanted to buy a bin of legos last November, but NO, no bins of regular, old legos.

What.

When I was a kid, I remember that there were buckets full of random pieces, which is what I wanted. But they only had sets and I didn't want to build a pirate ship or a fancy house, but a little lego village so I could wreak havoc upon the poor unfortunate little villagers. Like this:

I ended up borrowing some and luckily the people were already missing limbs and whatnot. (It was for a silkscreen I did.)

I remember the ninja sets, then when I would fight the little guys some would have swords sthrough their mid sections.  That is what they really need to bring back, the ninja lego sets.  None of this knights and castle shit, I am tired of it.

Legos are brilliant! Me and my cousin created all sorts of crazy contraptions with Legos, such as grand palaces and tourture centers, to punish those Lego figures that misbehaved. Hell, I remember at one point we made replica's of fire-emblem classes with Legos. They were awesome.

Shit, now I wanna break out my old box of Legos...

Also I got the Lego magazine. Anybody else get the magazine?

that's basically the only kind of lego i had because i had a deprived childhood.  normal lego pieces kind of weird me out now because they seem too small.  DUPLO was super-fun, though.  i made zoos, too, but usually i built a farm and all the animals (yes, even the tigers and elephants) were the farm animals.

When I was a young child I went on a holiday to Europe with my family. We traveled to Denmark, for some reason, and visited Legoland. There was some kind of free-form Lego construction competition going there. I made a castle, and won first place. My prize was a box of Lego (can't remember which set) - they mailed it all the way to Australia!

I was pretty keen on the Lego as a young 'un.
