Dude, it's all about Flight of the Conchords now. The same good two-guitar folk comedy interplay without any lame cock rock references.

Though I am partial to "Fuck You Gently" every once in a while, which is to say, never.

It's a good song though.

Last time I listened to Tenacious D was at Wacken Open Air, I think. It was like, the only CD we had, or something dumb.

Oooh, I like this one. I haven't been here so long, but from what I have read, I think he will do just fine.

I haven't really heard much from them, as I am really cheap and don't buy many CDs.

Dogg if you post a topic about a band you like you got to fully expect some people to disagree. Also you're way new here so for better or for worse you are gonna get treated like a new kid by some of the Old Hands.

Personally I have never enjoyed Tenacious D, because I find Jack Black rather annoying.

I prefer my musical comedy along the lines of Future of the Left. Andy Falkous is one funny motherfucker.

Hmm... I'm cheaper. Think about the cheapest person you know, and multiply that by 5,672. I've never paid for any music whatsoever. If my iPod was found by the wrong people I'd be sued so far into debt I'd end up selling myself on the street. Mind you, I do that now, but that's just for the fun.

I used to enjoy them from time to time.  They were funny to me long ago.  But then the meathead down the hall from me started playing the album EVERY FUCKING DAY

I no longer can stand Tenacious D

I don't really care much for Tenacious D.  It's fun to quote their songs from time to time, though.  My favorite is: "That's fuckin' teamwoooork!"

Anyone seen the movie? A lot of their songs are actually from that, such as Classico, Kickapoo and Master Exploder.

They are ok. I have their first CD and I thought it was real funny the first couple of times I listened to it. Then I knew all the jokes and it wasn't funny anymore. Then Tenacious D wasn't interesting for me to listen to anymore.

Flight of the Conchords is the way to go my friend. It's been said. I am simply restating this fact in order to move up on the forum ladder. Consider yourself 'rung'ed my friend.

Tv-links.cc will of course offer you many an amazing episode. IF not sidereel sure will.

I love their first album to bits, its fucking Gold. You can't really put it in solid constant rotation without it getting a bit old, but in sporadic doses, I love the album to bits. Its a shame the Pick of Destiny soundtrack wasn't better because I didn't mind the movie, good simple throwaway comedy to watch stoned out of your mind, but the album bored the shit out of me, even though most of the songs worked relatively well in the context of the movie

And yeah, its pretty much impossible to start a topic on a music forum about music without someone having a contrary opinion, wanting to tell you about it. That is why this is internet and not real life, we are under no obligation to put kid gloves on. If you honestly want to start a topic about how awesome Tenacious D are and not have people disagree with you, the only place you might even have a chance of that even happening is the Tenacious D message board, and even then, Internet is a cruel mistress.

As for Flight of the Conchords, I just don't get it. I can't get it. I don't find it funny, I don't get why other people find it funny, it just doesn't seem to have any *pop* to it, its just missing something I want from that kind of music, a certain X-factor that I pretty much attribute to a chemistry that JB and KG have that the Conchords dudes just don't seem to have to me.

The actual show is considerably funnier than most of their songs, to be fair.

Their first album was hilarious and refreshing. Their newer one, the soundtrack to "The Pick of Destiny," is..atrocious. The first album wasn't solely potty humor, it had wit and life to it. "Destiny" is basically just "Fuck you, motherfucker!"

However, I find Jack Black to be funny--in limited quantities.

Flight of the Conchords and Tenacious D aren't really all that comparable. Their style of humor and music are both vastly different.

I've seen some pretty terrible songs by Flight of the Concords, but I also saw two that were nothing but pure genius. I'm not a fan, but these songs were absolutely fantastic. The right amount of delightful, funny, charming and witty.
The first was a song about a man who passed a woman in the park named 'Jenny', and the throughout the song she is telling him about the last time they met while he tries to remember her.
The second was a song about David Bowie, preceded by a story about the band traveling back in time and impressing him with his own songs.

Tenacious D don't compare. They're hilarious at times, terrible at others, much like Flight of the Conchords, but it's a completely different brand of humour.

Jack Black is basically a less funny version of my friend Jack.  The music's okay.  What always gets me is the butt-baby episode.
