I'm Not There
« on: 11 Apr 2008, 20:58 »

So, I just saw this tonight.  It's the movie about Bob Dylan's music.  It was quite confusing, but very artsy and very pretty.  If someone else has seen it, could you please help me make sense of it?

Not sure if this thread will help you any...
(Damn, I am such a search-function-machine today!)

Anyway, I still haven't seen this movie... I suck.

I tried the Search feature!  I must've missed it.  I am really tired.

Haha, thats ok. I did search function too, and it didn't come up. But I knew the thread had existed (seeing at how I created it...) and just went back in the archives.
There must be something wrong with it.

I just read the old thread and now I must ask...

How the hell does Cate Blanchett manage to play Bob Dylan?

I believe if you follow a link on the previous thread, there was a link to a trailer (that may or may not still exist).

...I thought it was a rather good similiarity between them, but what do I know?

The trailer didn't appear to work but I guess I could try a bit more.

That's what I was wondering!  Her character is a dude, and all through the movie I thought  it was a very effeminate guy playing him.

Cate is actually, by far, the best portrayal of Dylan the movie. Most of the others are metaphorical and represent the different elements of his life and the influences in his music--folk, blues, rock (with Cate representing the experimental/electric/psychedelic phase.)

I'm also guessing a battle with drug use and creating a false identity under which he performed and recorded?

But of course! No musician biopic would be complete without a battle with drug abuse.
