They've got the C.N.N. coverage on the T.V. here in Australia.

Wolf Blitzer doesn't look nearly as scary as I'd always imagined he would. I'm a little disappointed.

Now Mike Huckabee's on the T.V. I haven't really been following this thing very closely, so I don't know where he's going with all this talk of stones and armour and whatnot. I think he might be a little stoned.

I am too young to vote, yet, I still enjoy watching the coverage of the elections. Not because I care one way or the other about who wins, but because I like to see these demonstrations on the thinking of American minds.

For instance, the fact that a very large majority of voters aged 17-49 vote for Obama according to exit polls. Upwards of 80%. Yet, due to the fact that probably 50% of voters are over the age of 50, this does not mean much.

Yesterday, I overheard someone in passing saying that they would vote for Huckabee just because his name sounded cooler that Rommey or McCain.

Man, why did all the other Aussies have such excellent voting experiences? When I voted it was stinking hot and I got given the evil eye by a bunch of old Liberal Party ladies who could obviously tell I was from the "loony left" by my long hair and sexual swagger. Also it was at a hospital and those places are fucking depressing no matter why you're there.

I had to travel across the city by public transport while it was pissing down raining and I had a couple of joints and a flask of Jamesons.

Maybe you just need to prepare for voting day a little better, Dovey

Also, happy voting day America! Rock on!

Anyone with voter reg gets to ride free on the public transportation here on election days. Doesn't make a difference to me since I have a semester bus pass, but it's a cool policy.

What isn't cool is that my state's Democratic primaries don't count. Dammit, Michigan.

Also, re: Ron Paul's party - I think that most of the people who voted for him think of him as an independent, but were more encouraged to vote for him since he was running in one of the big parties. One of the major setbacks for independents is that no one truly believes they have a chance. Even if half the people in the country loved an independent candidate, that fact would probably get no press and voters would go, "Better not waste my vote" and pick the lesser of two evils from the big two.

Paul himself is essentially running as an independent under a Republican banner because he can get more exposure that way, and he's said as much in interviews.

Any of the candidates I would have really felt good about voting for have dropped out of the race.  The nominees will probably be all but decided before my state's primary even occurs.  I am all about democracy as a concept, but sometimes the execution leaves me feeling very jaded.

I will still vote, but I will not feel any real sense of accomplishment in doing so, other than raising my sex appeal, of course.  It works.  I find myself at least 50% more attracted to a person if they are wearing one of those "I Voted" stickers.

Fuck all you guys who got to vote today.  Oregon's primary is on May 20th, the 48th Democratic primary and 46th Republican primary.  Not only that but I won't get to have any kind of fun polling-place story even then because my state does its elections 100% vote-by-mail.  This became true when I was, I believe, 17 years old, so I've never gotten to vote in a polling-place, and I quite possibly never will since I can definitely see myself living in Oregon for the rest of my life.  The point is, I would have liked to vote today, that would have been awesome.

We had a caucus here.  It was dumb as shit because nobody in my district knew what the hell they were doing.  I'm pretty certain the numbers that came out of my district were wrong, and that is extremely lame.  People were leaving after the straw poll (which is not the actual delegate vote) and shit like that.  Ugh it was frustrating.  I wish we had just had an effing primary.

Democracy inaction.  (yes I spaced that right.)

Registered independents like myself don't get to vote in Oklahoma primaries. I knew this when I regiestered, but for some reason I didn't realize that it was a dumb thing to do. No vote = no sticker.

I will be changing my registration before the next primaries.

We had a caucus here in Kansas too. The state decided they didn't have enough money to put on a primary, so they decided to just have a caucus. It was pretty terribly organized--entire districts had to file into a building that due to fire codes could only have 150 ish people in at a time. And I think they underestimated the number of people in oh-so-red Kansas who would come and vote for the democratic nominee. So you ended up with probbaly 3000 or more people lining up to try and get into this tiny little building.

This was all in freezing rain, mind you.

I was in line 2 and a half hours.

Best first vote ever.

    * Pledge-fulfilling sex must be consensual, legal, and generous. And safe. And hot.
    * Acceptable sexual positions include, but are not limited to: missionary, doggy-style, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, leapfrog, butterfly, humpback whale, cling wrap, squashing of the deck chair, accordion, reverse piggy-back, advanced ("twin") leapfrog. Male-male, female-female, group, and oral variations of these positions can also be used to satisfy the pledge.
    * Taking the pledge indicates a good-faith effort to abide by its provisions. Pledge-takers who have violated withholding provisions become effective non-voters, and are barred from sex with fellow pledge-takers.
    * Pledge-takers who fail to vote are forbidden from masturbating. (Exemption: pledge-takers who are not eligible to vote are encouraged to masturbate frequently.)
    * "Cybersex" does not satisfy the pledge, dorkwad.
    * Non-voters may render themselves eligible for sex with American Heroes by voting at least twice in local, primary, and/or 2006 congressional races. Those voting in only one such race qualify to perform, but not receive, oral sex on American Heroes.
    * Achievement of a Votergasm during election-night sex is probable, but not guaranteed. Those encountering difficulty reaching Votergasm are encouraged to slow things down, talk about it, and reduce the pressure. Other techniques include the use of massage oils, toys, "dirty talk," "ballot stuffing," and "exit polls."
    * Per the U.S. Constitution, children conceived on election night are eligible for gigantic interest-free loans from the U.S. government, and special t-shirts.
