Note for those who haven't clicked the link yet: That is discussed later in the article, that is not at all what the headline is about.

High heels make it difficult to run away from your pursuer, which in turn could increase your sex life?
But uh, not in a good way.

Practice! It might just be me, but an otherwise unremarkable looking girl wearing cute shoes is always more attractive than anyone who is wearing not cute shoes.

Anyway I was perusing that site, found the goth section, hence these:

I tried wearing heels once in my life. Halfway through the day I ran into a professor and he said "Are you alright? You're limping!" Only, I was simply trying to walk right. I decided heels weren't for me.

Heels are the sort of thing that you don't jump right in at 3 inch stillettos.  You need to start with a thicker heel, about an inch and a half, and slowly work your way up if you have difficulty with balance and comfort.  Also, wear half size larger than your regular size since after a while, your feet might swell a little.  It really depends on the style though.  You might have just been wearing horrible shoes.

For some reason, I had the sneaking suspcision (after reading the posts, but not the article quite yet), that it would tell me that I wasn't getting laid because I wear flats and sneakers.

Good to know that's not the cause...

That particular kind of shoe isn't my style, but that kind of heel is the only kind I'll usually wear. Chunky heels like that don't feel any different to me than flat shoes.

I can walk in stilettos but only on really even surfaces (I wore them to my cousin's wedding, and I had to walk up a grassy hill to the reception. Not fun), and it hurts my heels and toes after a while. And I honestly don't like the look of a lot of them - I only wear them on sandals, I hate the closed-toe stilettos that practically go to a point. FEET DON'T.

I wore stilettos to a friend's outdoor wedding.  I kept sinking into the grass so in the video you can see me slowly get shorter then yank each heel out of the grass and grow a couple of inches.  And then slowly get shorter as I sank back in.  It was a great way to amuse myself during the boring parts of the service.

I love heels and I am good at walking in them but I do so much walking that they are only ever worn on very special occasions, and when I do, they are higher than 2 inches. I lose.

What I think is interesting is how many women do not have the ankle strength to actually walk properly in heels. I have lots of opportunities to sit around in airports and bus and train stations to notice this, and it is phenomenal. Why do you ladies wear heels when you wobble with every step? Each time you wobble you are putting pressure on strange points of the shoe that do not necessarily grip the floor the right way, and thus you are in danger of having the shoe slip and snapping the heel or spraining your ankle.

I have lots of heels, but I too only wear them on special occasions. Also since taking that photo I have acquired the cutest pair of black peep-toe pumps that can be found elsewhere in my photobucket.

Whatever the excuse is to look at stylish shoes is good by me.

What I think is interesting is how many women do not have the ankle strength to actually walk properly in heels.

I have noticed this, too. They either wobble or are so scared of trying to walk naturally, they look like they are stomping. Stomping around in stilettos is probably one of the scariest things I've seen on a regular basis, except for scary drivers.

I have heels that I wear on special occasions, but those are kind of rare. I like heels, I think they are pretty, but they are not practical for me, as my campus is WAY hilly and I usually wear flats or kitten heels when I go out. Also, any heel over 2" will put me over 6' and don't need yet another reason to tower over people. Severe downside to being a tall girl - can't have as many pretty shoes. (I make up for it with having too many sneakers and not enough dressy shoes.)

That is the only reason I like being short- I can wear whatever height of heel I want and not tower over the general public.

I think I know all of the women in Tirana who don't wear heels. That amounts to like 5 people.

Honestly, I prefer flat shoes on the ladies. Srsly? Consider dating alone. What kind of date is it where you can't walk around? To me it seems like half the fun of going on a date or being in a relationship (this based off of my friends' experiences) is going around and seeing cool things, and seeing cool things gives you ideas for cool stuff to do.

That and there are some damn cute flats around. Simplicity is the way to go.

Dude tell your ladies to get more comfy shoes. The only reason I don't wear mine more often is that I don't want them to get messed up from heels sinking into the ground or whatever.

Heels are perfectly fine for walking around as long they're not ridiculously tall. I could walk around in two inch heels all day. But I do also enjoy my flats, I have quite a few pairs. My feet have very little arch to them, so I can wear pretty much any shoe for a long period of time.

i can't stand heels at all, but i think that is more to do with my mentality where i can't stand wearing any kind of clothing that doesn't allow me mobility in some way. skirts and tight pants are the same. but i'm also fairly secure about the fact that i am only like five feet tall, so man, whatever.

another possible cause of my aversion is the fact that while growing up my mother used to wear high heels all the time (she still does, but i don't live with her anymore) and every step she took was constantly accompanied by that horrid obnoxious "clak clak clak" sound of her heels hitting the floor. it was like nails were being driven into my ears. i told myself i would never ever inflict that on another human being.

It just came to me, but the arguments this article makes for heeled shoes is the same damn one that was once made for foot binding.

But, seriously, fucked heeled shoes. They serve no practice purpose, not even in video games.

The practical purpose of high heeled shoes is so that you can threaten to puncture someone's skull by stepping on them, like in Heroes.

Flats are cool for every day, but heels are dressier and dressy is good. By heels I mean sensible ones, like the middle ones with the bows that Misconception posted.

I cannot express my utter abhorrence of flats. I have never seen someone look good in them. Short girls look stumpy and childish, tall girls look like they're ashamed of their height and insecure.
I'm sorry if you're one of those girls who like them, but there are much better looking flat shoes if you want comfort and much better looking heels if you want pretty.

You know what? I don't look at people's feet, so I could care less what type of shoe someone wears. I'm so bad, that my parents go out and buy shoes for me, they know my size and they know that I could care less. I've never been unsatisfied with a purchase, I suppose.

So my point is women in heels or flats? Whateva, man.

I tend to judge the value of a woman's shoe by how practical it is for as wide a range of activities as possible.  If you can't climb anything in them, I don't recommend them.  Even ladders are difficult for some kinds of heels.
