I always feel so manly in discussions about shoes or other things women are supposed to know. What are kitten heels? I've gathered Uggs are the disgusting animal fur boots that every girl seems to have along with her ugly G/C purse. (What are with those dull purposes (I meant purses, but this typo makes more sense to me) that everyone has anyways?) Ugggh.

Also, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that hates the Toe Crack. I seriously thought it was just me.

Typically 1in high. I actually think they're much easier to manage than heels, as it's like a normal rise on any other shoe.

I think they are harder to navigate than regular heels or flat soles because they generally taper pretty sharply and so you end up rocking back and forth on them a lot. I have fallen sideways (actually fallen, not just stumbled) because I went to put my foot down in such a way that a larger heel or the width of a flat sole would've caught and straightened out naturally and the tiny heels didn't.

I dunno, kitten heels have a pretty small heel base, but if you're normally wearing ones much thicker than that, you're stuck in the 90's chunky heel stage and you need some help.

Wow, those black shoes are amazingly bad. Damn. The white chunky heels just hit me as an idea that didn't turn out; a mundane failure. But those black shoes were doomed from the beginning.

Guys the ballet heels things are not regular shoes. I am pretty sure the only people I have ever known to wear them out wore them to Rocky Horror. They are fetish shoes, and not for standard consumption.

Also, at first I couldn't really see the problem with the shoes Amanda posted, because the ones on top look like the $12 pair you might buy to wear to your second-cousin's wedding because you didn't already have a pair in the right colour and you will probably never wear them again anyway. The second pair looked like they were those 90s-esque shoes that people still market to preteens; but then I noticed the heel, and I actually laughed out loud at the absurdity.

I have a large scar on the underside of my chin from the last time I wore heels out.  I completely ate it on some stairs.  I was lucky I didn't bite my tongue off and I had to walk around with my chin taped up for a week.

Admittedly, I was pretty intoxicated, so the heels weren't entirely to blame.

There's a (limited) time and a place for ballet heels. It's the same time and place as for latex and ballgags.

I know where Battle Lake is! Yay! Battle Lake is my adopted lake and it is good for swimming and fishing. And staying in a hotel your auntie owns.

ALSO FUCK YOU GUYS I love toe cleavage. I think it looks adorable? Though maybe I am biased, since I have super long toes and I think you might actually be able to see the cleave when I wear slip on Vans or something.

Yay for you! But you also live in Fargo, so you were pretty cool a while back.

As for toe cleavage, I have yet to experience it myself. I think I have one or two pairs of shoes that might give me a little of it, but my toes are pretty tiny so I've never really had a problem with it. I don't think it looks that bad, actually.

Man, the toe cleavage is hideous.

And it seems like it would be a bit of a pain to wear, with so little of your foot actually in the shoe? I've never worn shoes like that but it seems like you'd have to curl your toes or something to keep your shoes on.

on topic: When I see a girl I look at her shoes almost instantly. Shoes are very important for me to determine whether or not I find someone attractive. Yes, I am that shallow.

I never notice shoes. Or clothes. I usually just see if a guy or girl has nice hair and I'm done with it. Well, that's not entirely true. If it's some notorious sweatshop brand or made entirely out of the fur of bunnies and whatnot, I will notice them and secretly grrr at their choice of where to support with their money. That's one thing I rather like about the ballet slipper shoes- no leather.

I think I'm one of those girls that only wears tennis shoes all the time. Well, they're not tennis shoes though, they're all-star knock offs from korea. Sometimes I wear my pirate boots, though.

Good trainers are ridiculously comfortable though. I have some rather expensive dress and "casual" shoes and there really isn't a comparison between them and well-chosen crosstrainer, tennis or basketball shoe (read: not just buying the big brand du jour).

I'm one of those. If I don't own more tennis shoes than nice shoes, I'll be shocked. I don't wear trainers, just shoes that are comfy and cover my whole foot.

Speaking of the ballet flats, though, nothing annoys me more than seeing girls wear these things when there are a good few inches on the ground when they aren't wearing socks. It's about as good as wearing sandals in snow.

This is also untrue; see what I said before about people who don't know how to walk in them, or don't have strong enough ankles for them.

Also, I wear running shoes pretty much every day when it's cold outside, and for labs when feet need to be covered.

Edit: Also, wasn't this thread originally about dresses? Good, because I have a question about bubble skirts: what.

There are four categories of shoes to me:

1. Fancy
2. Cute
3. Plain
4. Nasty
*

I probably don't care unless your shoes are nasty, but plain shoes can be a bit disappointing sometimes.

*This space reserved for Crocs if I decide to upgrade the list to 5 categories.

Pair it with those Fendi shoes-from-hell and you've got an outfit;)

I hate the one I posted because I think it's a horrible way to use menswear fabrics. It looks like some fashion school arty twit's final project, and completely impossible to sit down in without wrecking the pleats.

Guys I made a special effort to look at ladies shoes today and all I saw when I looked at women wearing heels was that their feet looked stressed. They all had red marks on their feet or they just generally looked like they were straining. I'm sure if feet could pant, they would've been.

NOT SEXY.

Oh yes, definitely true. I don't like it the way it is, but it automatically transforms itself in my mind to something edwardian and in my head it looks pretty cool.

Menswear fabrics have a place, and that is not one of them.

They were all wearing the wrong shoes. Or they just started wearing heels, because that can happen when you aren't used to them.

Also, on the topic of skirts, this is a good bubble skirt:
