Frequency/Amplitude
« on: 14 Feb 2008, 22:44 »

This is for the excellent, although under appreciated games Frequency and Amplitude.

What are your favorite songs from each game, and which game did you like better?

Personally, I love Frequency, but Amplitude got multiplayer down to a science.

THIS MAN ISN'T CRAZY HE'S A GENIUS

Where did you get up to in amplitude?  I pride myself in having gotten to the "secret" song, which is probably my favorite in the game (and that awesome halo! awesome!)  Other than that, I like super-sprode, and also I do epic singalongs to that Pink song.
I never played frequency though.  I did enter a cheatcode which emulated the Frequency style, and I've gotta say I'm not really a fan.
If you wanted to get married, thought, that would be fine by me.

I 4 barred every song except Rockit, Subculture, Out the Box, and Spaztik.

If you enjoyed Spaztik, you'd probably love the entire soundtrack to Frequency.

And if anyone cares, a hacker from Freq.com, a frequency/amplitude website, found some cool stuff about Frequency that rocks hardcore. Recently, hidden songs, and hidden content made Frequency more awesome.

The songs in FreQuency were about a million times better than Amplitude.  Ugh, Slipknot, Papa Roach, P.O.D... blah.

"Science Genius Girl", "Cosmic Assassins", and all of Stage 4 were the best.

I have Frequency and Amplitude and they make me happy Harmonix got successful after their brilliant, but underappreciated early gems.

Don't forget, they made Anti-Grav and Karaoke Revolution.

I found out they made a psudo-sequel called PHASE that came out for the iPod. Very nice game.

Not as good as Freq or Amp, but it's good.

For people who don't know, it's one hundred percent of a music game. It plays like a 3 note guitar hero, with the ability to sweep between all of the instruments.

Needless to say, it's awesome.

Audiosurf is not as trippy as Frequency nor amplitude. It's cool you get to listen to your own music, but it isn't as integrated with it.

You're not playing the right songs, nor are you on acid.  You can't play frequency or amplitude on acid, it's too hard.  Believe me, I've tried.  Audiosurf, on the other hand, isn't nearly as difficult.  Neither is Rez.  When you're viewing time differently, rhythm games are fucking hard.

I only use pot while playing them, and I have more fun with Freq, Audiosurf aint nearly as much fun, but Rez on the other hand, is a musical masterpiece.

That's what I'm saying though, is that if I were going to play any particular video games on acid, it would be Rez and Audiosurf.

I like how Harmonix is able to make so many games based on the same concept of pressing buttons at the right time corresponding with music. (That wasn't meant to sound demeaning.)

Actually, if you started from the beginning of HMX, they made a game called "The Axe" which was a program that used a joystick as a musical instrument. I am still trying to find a copy of it, just so I can mess around with it.
