I'm surprised no one's mentioned Eddie Vedder yet.  For the most part you can get his stuff okay, but there are just some times, man, you have no idea what in the hell he's even saying.  To this day, I don't know what all the lyrics are in Evenflow, and I've heard it a good seventy million times.

Mikael Akerfeldt's growled vocals can be hard to distinguish at times. Though I guess they're a hell of a lot better than shit like Cannibal Corpse.
you can't do opeth...they're music is designed to be comprehended

personally i have trouble with sun ((O)))) but that could be one of those drowning out things

i sing along to almost all the music i listen to, but when the wolf parade guys are singing fast, i just give up. their phrasing is so intentionally between the beats though it's wonderful.
