The bad cartoon I enjoyed was Kidd Video. I even have the mp3s of the horrible synth-pop tunes they created.

I remember when I was like 6 the local video store had origional episodes of Space Ghost and I would rent them all the time.
It was just as rediculous back then is it is now, only then it was unintentional.

While not a cartoon, the Nickelodeon show 'Legends of the Hidden Temple' always infuriated me, even as a kid. They would make up some bullshit story about how James Madison's wife had a mystical all-seeing staff that had been recovered from the chambers beneath the White House. And with people being as ignorant about history as they are, you just knew that somewhere, some kid was watching the show and taking these things as reality and grew up to believe that a former First Lady had control over the undead.

Does anyone remember Sharky and George?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Yzm2irjLi0

The crime busters of the sea!! I names my goldfish after George, because I didn't want to appear like I was mocking him by calling him Sharky... I can't remember much about the show, but I could never forget that theme tune.

I think we forgot about Inspector Gadget, the best theme song to get suck in your head all day.

And check out this vid:  Beatboxing flute inspector gadget remix.  He combines it with the Beverley Hills Cop theme.

And now to enter the nostalgia portion of this thread:

Speed Racer
Johnny Quest
and a truly horrible one whose title escapes me, where a family of scientists ends up in a lost world populated by cavemen (who speak english) and dinosaurs (who'd a thunk it?)

Even as a young kid these were horrible - which is why I started reading decent books at a young age...or just waited for MASH to come on at 5:00

The fuck...? THE FUCK?! Seriously, people, what the fuck?!

Man, the first like five or six Nicktoons were pure gold! Until Doug went to Disney, it was fantastic. Rugrats was, admittedly, not one that held up too well, but it was great as a kid. Ren and Stimpy was always fun. Rocko's Modern Life was one of the best cartoons ever. Ahh! Real Monsters was fucking fantastic. From Hey Arnold on, it all went downhill (Yes, including Zim people, really doesn't hold up past your teens).

The Raccoons was/is hands-down the worst cartoon in the history of everything. And I watched it RELIGIOUSLY.

Also, I had, and still have, many VHS collections of "classic" cartoons wherein Betty Boop employs strangely sadistic methods to lose weight and Superman is an asshat misogynist spewing WW2-era propaganda against the Japanese. He also fights the mole-people and the bird-people. Strangely, the bird-people I seem to remember lived in underground caverns. The mole-people might have, too--but that would make more sense.

I remember watching Ronin Warriors. It was pretty cool when I was 12, but I don't think it would stand up to time. An old scientist type summons five magical warriors from another dimension with a Commodore, and they all sound like surfers. Yeah....

On an unrelated note, I just thought of Count Duckula for some reason. That cartoon was Fucking Amazing.

Captain N: The Game Master

Though I don't remember it to well.

Also, it's probably been about every kid's wish at some point to be sucked into a video game.

Edit: I also remember that in at least one episode he was able to use the controller on his belt to "pause" the world and then jump around and do stuff.  I always wondered why he didn't just do that all the time.

You know, I always just thought Thundercats, for all its campy glory, was at its bones a really awful cartoon. When 90% of the lyrics in the theme song of a show consist solely of the one-word title of that show, that's generally a good sign you're in trouble.

I never liked Thundercats. I dunno why; I was as vulnerable to mass marketing and loved cartoons as much as the next kid, but Thundercats just wasn't doing it for me.

Gentlemen!
I present to you the worst of the Bad Late 80's Action Figure Cartoon genre(you so know it's a genre) Back when they designed the toys first, then gave them cool names AND THEN wrote a plot at the last minute!
Inhumonoids...I had almost forgotten it, but then tvlinks resurrected itself with even more retarded bullshit better then ever.
Here you go, you don't have to watch the whole thing, I would understand.

My friend and I would spend SO much time playing with those Street Sharks fighters....AND the Biker Mice From Mars toys.....TOGETHER.  Man I miss those shows...although if I watched them now they'd be terrible....like The Tick, I bought season one and I tried watching it again...major dissapointment.

Has "The Superfriends" been mentioned yet?

A friend linked me some clips from it the other day and I couldn't stop laughing.  The segue-ways between scene even in the same fight make no goddamn sense, and the cheesy one-liners everyone spits out are gold to this day.

Does Gumby count as cartoon since it's claymation? It was pretty weird.
The old Beetlejuice cartoon was another weird one and the Wonderwoman cartoon. I have nothing against Wonderwoman but I can't help but wonder how she's so strong in her own show then as soon as she's introduced to a series with male superheros she keeps screwing up and needing to be rescued. Also, her tendency to be caught in her own whip bothered me.

Honestly, the only one that stands out in my memory as having the highest possibility of sucking was some stupid cartoon that was like "a yankee in king arthurs court" with some stupid kid, and for some reason football players?  I honestly cant remember much, I know it had king arthur, some time travelling kid, and crazy pseudo japanese power up armor thing going on.  I remember waking up at 6am to watch that shit.

Also, no offense to the rabid fanbase, but in a moment of weakness, I purchased the first season of Transformers the day it came out.  I could not finish the first season.  It was that cheesy and corny.

So, after destroying my memories of early Transformers (Except Grimlock, he was still incredibly badass), I refuse to watch ANY cartoons from my childhood, GIJoe, TMNT, Gargoyles, etc.

Yeah, stop listing cartoons that were fun.

I think it was called Shark Attack! but whatever it was it felt like a ripoff of TMNT. It was definitely bad.

(frunK, welcome to the forums!)

It was Street Sharks.

My vote goes to Rocko's Modern Life.  I didn't understand that show at all until I was like, 13, but that didn't stop me from watching it all the time.

Spiderman and his amazing friends is hands down the worst cartoon ever, but it's so ridicules that it's actually quite entertaining my favorite line ever from that show was when spiderman was stuck in a pit that he couldn't climb out of and then the bad guy turned on the sleeping gas in the pit and spiderman said " Sleeping gas that does it" and then proceeded to climb the walls he just moments earlier said were unclimbable and to completely ignore the effects of sleeping gas

I have gargoyles on DVD actually. It holds up really well as do the Batman Animated Series and funnily enough, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I still want to see if thundercats holds up as well because I used to love that show.

I think I remember the show you're talking about. Was it on Nickelodeon? Did it have a hot cavewoman the son lusted after? Yeah, I watched it and loved it as a kid.

Also: Apparently, I was a huge fan of She-Ra Princess of Power as a kid. As a very young kid, mind you, so I don't remember it at all, my mother just likes to bring it up because she sucks.

THE TICK. then it was live action and agh. bad choices. didn't pound puppies have a cartoon too? glow worms! the eighties were all about product tie-ins. oh wait, so is every cartoon ever.

i'm glad so many people remember street sharks! i thought it had faded into tmnt-imitation obscurity.

i didn't have cable as a child, so i watched a lot of little lulu and popeye on an old vhs. the three stooges was also on this tape, but they were live action and SUCKED, so got the fast-forward treatment.

no, agh, i remember the tick was on right after animaniacs (batman came BEFORE, i think ... well, i don't know, i just know it either preceded/succeeded some show i was really into) and i remember thinking it was the stupidest thing ever. i think i would probably like the concept now that i'm older, but 5-year-old me had nothing but ire toward the execution of said concept.

I think they occasionally switched Batman and the Animaniacs. Sometimes Batman was on before, sometimes it was on after. I don't know, and I should remember, because I have Batman love hardcore. Maybe it was Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures.

Oh, man, and anyone remember the really painful Attack of the Killer Tomatoes cartoon around the same era as Ninja Turtles? Man, that was bad.

What really annoyed me was when the Cartoon Network came out and they showed all those old 70s cartoons. I really hated when the whites of everyones' eyes were the color of their skin. Drove me crazy. I'm pretty sure Scooby Doo was one of the ones that annoyed me so much for that.

I have no idea who greenlit that tv show. Maybe it was supposed to be a green show before the whole "go green" movement was all trendy. I know that was the issue with Captain Planet.

All I remember was the gigantic tomatoes bouncing down the street, and I thought, "This is so bad."

Gargoyles

Fuck, I loved this show.  I remember being little and seeing Disney on Ice (my mom had connections so we got a booth) and at the end the Gargoyles came out and kicked ass.  They still play some episodes on Toon Disney at 3:30 AM.
