As some you may have guessed, this thread is about the Phoenix Wright series.
Basically, the Phoenix Wright series was originally a trilogy of Japanese GBA games that was remade for the DS and released in North America and Europe during the process. Imagine Law and Order as an actually good video game with crazy anime characters and great, funny dialogue. Since adventure games are more or less dead at this point, you're gonna have trouble finding a better one around right now.
As a relatively late adopter of the DS (I bought the DS Lite on launch day but I never owned the original), I didn't manage to find the original game in stores even though I was interested in picking it up. Shortly after Christmas, I was surprised to find copies of the game in stock while surfing Amazon. I ordered it and have spent most of the past two weeks playing it a bunch. It's a great game, and even though the sequel that was released stateside yesterday isn't quite as good, I still ordered it online just to show my support for the series, because apparently Capcom's avoiding committing themselves to a translation of the third Japanese Phoenix Wright game until they see sales numbers for Justice For All. Just like my reasoning behind buying Elite Beat Agents (which I've previously ranted about in this forum), the best way to convince publishers to release more crazy offbeat Japanese games in other regions rather than an even larger stream of stupid Halo and GTA clones is to buy the games they actually do take a flyer on.
So yeah. If you like the games, talk about them! If you don't, but you own a DS and like adventure games or just weird games in general, please buy the new game, and/or the original if you can find it.
