A QUANDARY
« on: 27 Feb 2008, 21:22 »

Alright, so I like music, right? And sometimes, I like to go see bands live, because it is a fun experience, and sometimes the bands get really raucous and loud and crazy and it's awesome, and sometimes a bands performance makes me like them a lot even though their recorded material is lame, and sometimes a live performance makes me fall asleep! Point is, I like seeing bands live.

Next month, I have a quandary. There are 3 shows that I would like to see on the same night! oh mi gosh. Built to Spill and the Meat Puppets are at one venue, Man Man is playing at another, and Old Time Relijun is playing at a third. I really like all of these bands. Built to Spill and the Meat Puppets have written some of my favorite songs, and I've had fond memories of. But Man Man and Old Time Relijun seem like they'd be great, loud, ecstatic live shows. And Old TIme Relijun is about as close as I will ever get to seeing Captain Beefheart.

This is where you all come in--And help me make a decision. Have you seen any of these bands live? Did they suck? Did they not suck? Who is loudest? Are the Meat Puppets still worth anything anymore?

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Man Man, by and large, blew the audience away when Modest Mouse brought 'em to town.

I'd go for Built to Spill and the Meat Puppets... I caught BtS a few months back and they were really good. Expect LONG improv and lots of crowd ignoral though. Still a fine show.

I don't have personal show experience with any of these but I've heard some pretty intense stuff about Man Man shows.

Even though man man is fucking brilliant live (and old time relijun probably would be lots of fun as well), Built To Spill AND The Meat Puppets? I know for me that's just too great to pass up.

When I saw BtS, the most exciting thing was that Mr. Martsch and I had on the same t-shirt.

I say you should go for Man Man.
