Some Book Sketches
« on: 04 Mar 2008, 12:57 »

One of my typography assignments is to illustrate a poem or song.  I chose King of Carrot Flowers part 1, and here are the sketches and layout i have so far.  Any thoughts/suggestions?

I really can't come up with any criticism other than "fuckin' A", so I guess I don't really have anything usefl to weigh in with,  but I thought what you've done is pretty damn cool.
I second that amendment!  Damned cool!

I agree with the previous pusus, but I feel like I have a slight problem with they layouts-- on one or two of the pages, it seemed like one of the corners puts the page off-balance.

Although, I probably can't do much better, so carry on.

Very cool, but I am not a fan of the font choice on the title page.

Also you have the same name as one of my friends. Jimmy Tierney of Danbury CT is a doofy fellow with a great singing voice.

Thanks.  I know, the font on the title page will be hand-written in the final.  It's just meant to show the letter placement for now.

I love how well your drawings illustrate the story.  It's like I can see what's going on in your head.  And I think it fits the style of the song really well.  Awesome!

As for the placement of the words, I like the original much better than the revision.

These are amazing!
I love the snake-man-house picture the most.  It would make a nice tattoo.
