I've decided that a roommate who enjoys Aqua Teen Hunger Force will make you hate the show with a passion.  I have had to endure every episode of that terrible show about 5 times every time a new one airs, and every old one a good 45 million times.

IT WAS ONLY MODERATELY FUNNY SOMETIMES BEFORE AND NOW I WANT IT TO END.  I will burn it with a fiery passion should I ever get a chance.

So what shows do you hate?

24 - Wow....Jack defeated the Russians/Chinese/Israelis/Pakistani's (face it they're all terrorists) AGAIN!?  And what!? They had Nuclear/Biological/Chemical/Super-Evil Weapons that were placed in key cities around America?  And they stole his girlfriend/dog/mother/mistress/boyfriend as well?!  AND HE WAS SHOT TOO!?  The fact that in 24 hours he never 1. pees 2. sleeps 3. eats and yet is coherent enough to kick terrorist ass just bugs the hell out of me.  The show got boring YEARS ago and if I have to listen to people talk about how great it is anymore I will shoot someone.

Prison Break - They're in prison....they try to get out....they fail...they change the plan...the guards get suspicious....they break out of prison....they run...they hide...they get caught....DRAMA....they get put in prison.  REPEAT.  This is another show that people rant about too much....I don't CARE that they're in prison or that they're on the run and who's on the inside or the outside.  The fact that it made it past season 2 just absolutely blows my mind.

Lost: Too many questions, no answers.  How long can they keep this up?  They said in an interview something along the lines of "we don't want to give the audience any answers, every time we answer something we want to introduce 5-6 more questions so that we keep it fresh and interesting."  What you get is an incredibly confused audience that has to watch every season 3 times and is still confused.

Grey's Anatomy: People should not like this show.....Watch House...it's better.  Or if you don't like House, turn off the TV...do something.  I hate this show SO much....if i have to have some girly next to me say "OMG DID YOU SEE WHAT MCSTEAMY DID LAST NIGHT!?" I will lose what little sanity I have left.  And why do people like Karen O so much.....and that dude is gay...we get it....so is Ellen...she still sucks.

I don't watch television, so I can't really say what I hate.  I will agree, though, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a pretty shitty show.  Also, Family Guy isn't all that clever any more.  Well, I guess it wasn't all that clever to begin with.

Holy crap THANK YOU!  I go to school and the ONLY thing I EVER hear is "omg did you guys see Family Guy last night!? CLASSIC!"  and me trying REALLY hard not to listen to them.  When South Park did Cartoon Wars Part I and II they hit everything that I hate about Family Guy and after I watched those two episodes I watched Family Guy again and it was EXACTLY like South Park portrayed them.  "This is just like that time when......" Gets really old, and it's not good when it's the only joke you can rely upon.  And Stewie sucks.

That's Amore is terrible as well.  I was stupid enough to watch an episode of Shot of Love With Tila Tequila and when I saw that "Italian" guy I quickly flipped the channel.  A month later and I flip to MTV again......and he has his own show.....and girls....want him......

I think there are some decent reality shows.  The problem is the emphasis placed on the actual people and what they think.  It's started to bleed into other events, as well.  Like American Gladiators.  I don't give a fuck what the contestants think, I don't give a damn about the showmanship of the gladiators.  I just wanna watch people do things I wish I was in the shape to do.

I've seen a few episodes of America's Best Dance Crew and I never gave a damn about dance before but they did some pretty cool shit on the Thriller episode.

I hate Smash Lab. It's Mythbusters without the thinking. They just blow stuff up, build over-elaborate, impractical contraptions for no reason, and crash junkyard vehicles together. Oh, and they go "WHOOOOOOAAAAAAA!!1111!11!1!1!!!1!!1!!" way too much and try to make everything really dramatic. (An "over-elaborate" example: the episode with the van sand trap, designed to stop getaway cars in bank robberies. What happens when it rains? Who has to build, assemble, and maintain it? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to let the bank get robbed?)

"The Moment of Truth"  also sucks. It's the hellspawn of the Jerry Springer show and The Newlywed Game.

Family Guy has become a tired parody of itself and should have been canned at the end of last season. Pre-cancellation Family Guy was alright, new Family Guy sometimes has its moments, but these moments are few and far between.

American Idol sucks until they get down to the top 14 or so. It's actually pretty fun once they weed out the really horrible contestants.

In general, reality shoes aren't very good. Thank [deity] the writers are back in action; we'll get plots again!

I think Smash Lab is really awesome, actually.  I admit they try to force the drama too often so it makes the hosts less likable than Adam and Jamie.  I don't find it impractical at all, really.  They usually tell you the costs involved.  And it's not like every aspect of what they do get tested, as you mentioned with the rain deal with the sand trap.  The whole point is to test a premise and see if it has some viability.  I wouldn't be susprised to see some sort of Rhino-liner paint used on buildings set up in war zones, for example.

How about you follow a new plot for each episode, instead of just changing the names of people and diseases and hoping nobody notices?

The same thing goes for most of the crime shows that do the same thing and reuse their plots.

CSI: All of Them.  I used to watch this show....4-5 years ago and I really, really enjoyed it.  I tried watching it again last week and it was absolutely horrendous, I don't understand what's changed, but they've lost all spark in that show, even that miniature killer thing wasn't exciting enough to bring it back to life.

Dancing With The Stars:  How is this show fun or even interesting?  I think what's most sickening is that they have the audacity to call these people "celebrities." Thanks to this show now I have to be reminded who Marie and Donnie Osmand are.

Survivor:  Honestly this show has SO much potential to be awesome.  What they NEED to do is make the people sign up for a different show....fly them to some super-remote location that's WIRED with hidden cameras and microphones. It'd be like Lord of the Flies....except so much more awesome.  Last one who survives wins.

I can understand how people don't like shows like House or Law & Order and CSI etc... but of course they have only slightly different episodes! The whole point of the medical/legal drama series is that they solve the case/crime by the end of the show! That's just how it works! It would be even more boring if in next week's episode of House there is no case for them to work on and they just do a couple of clinic hours and maybe get a coffee. Then House says something wittily abusive and Jesse Spencer pouts. Or if it were a slow week for SVU and Stabler gets a guy for jaywalking. No one would care.

The shows I hate are generally the soaps. Neighbours and Home And Away spring to mind.

Well, coating an entire building isn't economically sound. (It costs about a thousand dollars just to get the bed of a full size pickup coated with the stuff; imagine what a whole building would cost.) And even if you did do the whole building, it's not going to do much against RPGs, doesn't do anything against suicide bombers walking in with explosives under their jackets, and leaves the windows and doors completely vulnerable. At the most, medium shrapnel will do less cosmetic damage.

That's why I think that episode was just a waste.

I saw that episode, and it screamed "product placement". They must have said "Rhino Liner" about 150 times.

Family Guy.  This show doesn't have characters (with the possible exception of Brian) it has gags with legs.  One dimensional, not particularly funny gags.  It doesn't have the Simpsons astute social awareness of razor wit, so it just juxtaposes supposedly shocking or merely incongruous things and passes them off as humor.  The Simpson's comedic timing, family dynamics etc. are stripped of their subtlety and charm and we are left with a flabby mass of crap that is as attractive as Peter Griffin's character design.  The one thing in family guy that doesn't seem like a total rip-off in Family Guy is the aforementioned shock gags, which are the bane of my generation's sense of humor--they are on the level of Dead Baby Jokes in every way, and should be relegated to middle school gym periods, where they belong.

American Dad.  Wants to be Family Guy.  The Platonic idea that copying/imitation is inherently degrading and thus a copy is worse than a original, a copy of a copy worse than the copy etc. finds its vindication in this piece of crap.  I have seen it once, and I do not wish to pollute my mind further.

CSI: Miami. I generally enjoy the original CSI, and have never seen NY. But Miami is like the shittiest show ever, and Horatio is one of the worst characters I've ever seen on a TV show.

Also, Friends is the single most overrated show ever. None of the characters are remotely likable, and none of the comedy comes from any of the characters actually having any sort of a sense of humor. terrible.

Date My Mom, and the fact that a channel here seems to air it every goddamn day or something annoys me to no end. Also, all the other American dating shows like it (Elimidate, Next and all the other crap I can't remember the names of), but Date My Mom is the worst of the worst.

I think everyone knows that the Simpsons should have ended 6-8 seasons ago, I don't think I know a single Simpsons fan.  The movie wasn't bad, I found there were some parts that were quite funny.  Note that Spider-pig was not one of them.  I don't think I know anyone who thinks that the Simpsons is still "funny."

I watched a full episode of That's Amore today....and wow....I think I want to kill myself, and Dominico.  "Like, I should have told you forefront, I would NEVER lie to you, ever (she lied to him earlier, and is lying now) and I would do anything for you."  "so what do you want me to do."  "just please, just...forgive me"  *starts crying.
Someone please tell me that everything in that is staged and that these girls don't like him at all.

I think that Flavour of Love should get a shoutout as a show that everyone loves to hate but that everyone secretly watches themselves.  Last year my entire english and math would spend periods talking about that show.  We enjoyed it because "man those chicks be CRAZY!" I don't think there was a single girl on that show that wasn't completely freaking nuts.

I've come to hate Mythbusters, which is depressing on a few levels. I liked it before, I really did. I was on the bandwagon from the beginning, and I still find Jamie and Adam to be quite likeable. But the format switch to two teams killed it for me. It's not even like I really hate the build team or anything. It just that it highlights everything I hate about television, cable in particular. The show has far too much recapping, ridiculously bad puns on the part of the narrator (the US narrator sucks) and all the flip flopping between projects makes it easy to lose my attention. It's sad because there's really nothing about the actual premise or cast that I dislike which couldn't be fixed with a different approach to editing and structure. Grrr.

That cake show on food network - deadliest cake, most dangerous cake, cake scene investigation, whatever it is called. It would actually be pretty interesting if it focused on the baking instead of the bakers.

In retrospect  "went the same way as the Simpsons" was a pretty bad way of phrasing it. The Simpsons lost whatever "spark" was responsible for the tone of seasons 4-9 (or wherever the "sweet spot" was), and the show became less and less funny as it went on. With South Park, either I have just completely grown out of it, or Matt and Trey are just not trying anymore. I can't tell. They have always stuck to one of several templates, but lately it has been really, really egregious. Season 10 (with a couple exceptions in the latter half) was lousy, season 11 was worthless, so far season 12 has been another set of South Park mad libs (fill in terrible deed by Cartman/pop culture figure/all adults do something completely irrational as if it was commonplace/boilerplate moral or conclusion that every issue has multiple sides).

That's not hard to do, considering they haven't had any new episodes since the writer's strike occured and ended. They decided to just leave the season as is rather than rush out a few episodes to make the last few weeks of the interrupted season.

Whipstitch:  You know, good point.  I never really thought about how Mythbusters is edited, but it is rather annoying.  I suppose I never noticed because I haven't watched a live episode in like a year.  It's set up to record on my parent's DVR so I just watch through it, fast forwarding through the commercials when I stop by for lunch or something.

Honestly, it makes a lot more TV bearable, especially shows that are in an hour block but have 45 minutes of commercial.

Yeah, I'm kind of at the point now where I watch television mostly so I can more comfortably take part in random conversations when bumming around campus. I doubt I could stand what little television I do watch if it weren't for the DVR. It's probably fair to say the issues I have with the editing on Mythbusters says more about my low tolerance for television's foibles than it does about the quality of the show, really, but that still doesn't excuse all the damned puns on the part of the narrator.

After Team America Matt and Trey essentially said they were too tired and uninspired to work anymore, and yet they signed on to do up to season 12 of South Park, so that might explain why it's not as good as it used to be.  So if they took a break for a year or three and came back I'm sure they might start being great again, but that's my opinion.  Mind you I haven't seen season all of season 11 but the stuff I have seen is hit-or-miss.

Smash Lab - Gah, I hate that show, but I try.  The one episode I made it throughh, was this one where they were going to try to stop a runaway vehicle with a trailer attached with rockets.  I lost all respect for them when their technician screwed up and ignited the huge missiles in the proximity of two people.  They could have been killed.  That is just like this show, rushed to the point where the reason for doing something means nothing.

Family Guy -  Ask me 4 years ago what the best cartoon on tv was, Family guy.  Ask me today and I'll say it's worse that Ben 10.  If you don't know what Ben 10 is your in luck.

In defense of Southpark.  I mean, it's what, 11 seasons now.  Its definately not as riotously funny as it was when I was... what, 15ish and watching it over AOL Dialup 28kish.  I think Southpark has turned into a very funny new creation.  When was the last time you laughed at the southpark kids calling cartman a **** ****** ******! I mean, society as a whole just thinks thats normal now and so SP has been forced to change, for better or worse.  At least  they still have the original writers, unlike some 11+ season runnin shows.

So, Smash Lab is hated by others.  Good.  I thought I was alone in seeing it as a bunch of pleasant-looking young people trying out ridiculous ideals in an effort to give them a reason to do MythBuster-esque experiments.  The whole premise feels so contrived, I could hardly stomach seeing the one episode I've watched.  Does anyone else feel like the brainstorms we see are pitched to the on-screen by a staff of real technical engineers off-screen?

But on the flip side of that, I actually like Bones even though it's just riding the coattails of House's "technical language is good television." And the appeal has nothing to do with David Boreanez.  He's just an unexpected perk in the wake of Dr. Brennan's absent-yet-amusing demeanors.

Agreed 100% about Smash Lab.

Mythbusters used to be great, but in the past season or two it has become nothing more than obnoxious.  Adam continues to try to be a showman, but he's just so annoying and he rarely gets things right.  The so called 'build team' lack any and all chemistry on screen; if they would stop trying to play to the camera and just discuss the myths they're doing like normal people maybe they'd be tollerable.  Jamie is the only part of the show that is still worth watching for as he's the only one that ever seems to know what he's doing and doesn't try to play to the camera.  On top of all that, they don't really test the myths properly anymore; I realize they don't exactly have a budget to do things perfectly, but they cut so many corners at this point that they aren't testing the myth anymore.

Now for my list:

Lost, CSI and its clones, The Riches, Law and Order and its clones, The Shield, reality shows especially American Idol, the new American Gladiators, Lil Bush, Weeds, Family Guy, American Dad

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Wow.....YES.  I've watched this show.....2 times.  Honestly I can't stand Oprah or Ellen, I find them to be incredibly annoying, they go on and on without having anything intelligent to say at all.  The View is worse because there are FOUR of them.  I dont' see why anyone likes them, all they do is talk and talk and talk.  And yet they say absolutely nothing.  The only time you have 4 guys together talking about something is when they're talking about Sports...and it's unbearable then too.  I don't see why 4 women talking about NOTHING can be any better.

I agree about CSI going downhill. I watch NCIS now, it is cheesy but not as annoying to watch as CSI.
Have to disagree with the anti-Horracio Cane part, his one liners are the best part of the show.....and those sun glasses!

Generally TV is a waste of time though. Unless you are ill and unable to do other things.

They managed to strip everything I loved from the original CSI and turn it into the most cliche shows I've ever seen.
I sat through 30 minutes of that aweful CSI - New York and said never again. 
Those two actually ruined the original CSI for me.

Sports, games of skill, it's all been a part of the human experience since cave man times.  Watching people pull of athletic feats that maybe 20 guys in the world at this given moment could do never gets old.

Dude, I don't hate sport. It's just sport on TV does nothing for me. It's definitely more interesting and enjoyable if your playing the sport yourself or actually being there to watch it happen.

Ohh, okay, I see what you mean.  Pardon me for assuming and making an ass of myself.  I'm just so used to hearing people hate on sports IN GENERAL, I never thought to take it to purely from a TV standpoint.

I understand your viewpoint.  TV sports can be quite obnoxious at times.  I still love me some sports on TV, but I've got to have a reason to care about the game (such as watching a team I despise win 18 games in a row just to lose the most important one of the season *cough*).

I wish they'd re-evaluate a lot of TV announcer personalities, too.  As much as I like Terry Bradshaw, he's so goddamn obnoxious and rarely gets to a valid point.
