Hey, this could be fun!
« on: 28 Mar 2008, 03:38 »

I just had this idea for something that could potentially turn into a lot of fun here!
Basically, you guys draw yourselves, other forumites, or famous people (real or fictional) posing for a picture, or doing something they might normally do.
But in the background, something horrible is about to happen to them and they remain completely oblivious!

Here's an example!
It's me, posing in a lovely meadow, feeling very good about myself and life in general. Too bad I'm totally unaware of the giant flying serpent that's about to eat half my head!

Okay, enough. I have to ask: what the fuck is with all of this white wale/holy grail stuff? I assume it's a song or something, and an allusion to Moby Dick, obviously. But what's it from? What's the point?

"All of this"? All I've seen is a comic posted in the Pointless thread, and then in this thread. Am I missing something here?

Incidentally, if you haven't seen the comic in the Pointless thread, do so.  a) it is hilarious, and b) it will probably explain things for you.

It's funny because, I dunno, it is so ridiculous. I mean, in the first few panels you think you know where things are going, because a million webcomics are just like that, only then it goes off the deep end. If you don't find that funny then whatever. *shrug*

"Blood and Thunder" by Mastodon, from their album Leviathan, a concept album about Moby Dick.

I am not remotely tired so I have decided to spend way too much time on this.  Also I just really like to draw.

I was talking to one of my friends while doing this project and he could not comprehend why I would participate in something this morbid.  It is impossible to explain the things that amuse me to some people.

Hands and running shoes are officially the most obnoxious things to draw.

Oh man, Dovey <3  When are you coming to Brisbane again?

Also, I wanted to participate, but I was feeling lazy.  So I made a half arsed effort using a picture I drew of Sam forever ago.  Every bee's worst nightmare.  probably.

Awesome animation, but I'm not sure what to think of someone who quotes Ayn Rand in his sig.

Think that I'm a person and not an AynRand-ite, please.  The woman can write a hell of a story, but her philosophies aren't made to work in a society of more than three people.

Ayn Rand was a terrible writer. The big revelation in Anthem is a fucking pronoun, for crying out loud.

Yeah, and it worked!  How the hell does a revelation that simple work in the context of a dystopia?

Also, why are we derailing the topic for Ayn Rand?

Oh man, Dovey <3  When are you coming to Brisbane again?

End of next month, and only for the weekend. In other words if we're going to hang out it is going to have to be orchestrated with military precision, such is the solidity of my party-schedule.

PS Below NSFW NSFW! Probably.

Oh also, here is a new thing for the thread.  Jordan is all oh look at me and the kitty. UNTIL....

I mean really, it had to be done.  Actually now I think about it, he would probably ENJOY a giant penis coming (or cumming am i rite lol) at him from the sky.
