SO SORE from last night. Can't get out of my chair.

I will play Castlevania and help appropriate funding for a hall event. I will likely post about it in the decadency thread because that is what it will fit in with.

Man, Symphony of the Night on the Saturn is really good when you've got an emulator that seems to support overclocking. It's great.

Actually, the hall council meeting came and went. We got 300 of what we were hoping for 2200 for limos and stuff.

Well, this actually happened on Saturday, but I went to the anti-Scientology rally in Birmingham.

There was cake, protesting, and rain. It was quite a lot of fun.

I went to a documentary screening the other night about the Rwandan genocide, and the school decided it would be a good idea to make a huuuuuuuge purple cake with the words "NEVER AGAIN" in huge white letters. Creepiest, most delicious cake ever.

I woke up, then I chilled for a while, then I showered, then I went grocery shopping, then my mom drove my and my groceries back in the general direction of my dorms with two stops. One so my sister could get a Capo for her banjo and I could get a tuner and a new strap for my guitar and one at the mall for random crap. Then I unloaded all my shit at my dorm, said goodbye to my family, did some homework ate some dinner and practiced guitar for a while. Then I dicked around on the internet. Then I saw this thread . Then I replied to this thread. Then I decided to end this post before it got too recursive...

So far today, I have been at work. Did my job exceedingly well. I watched Rock of Love II and rejoiced muchly.

Now I have school. Super community college whoo hoo.

And I have to drive 15 miles to take my roommate a sandwich from Sonic.

Ghey.

Yay!

Edit: I also set my ringback as 'Never Gonna Give You Up' and emailed my a brother a frantic message saying how badly I needed him to call me.

I win.

Thanks.  The dog is now back home, with a lot of metal in her leg.  She can walk, but is to be kept quiet for several months - a Border Collie! - not fun!  But for now she is content to rest in a cage while the surgical wound heals.

I am coffeeing off a rather lame-ass hangover. I didn't even drink that much last night! *grumble*

Later, I will go to class, and for the 40th straight time, not be able to sack up and ask out the girl that sits next to me. If only there were some way to give her an Ergs album and be all "They say how I feel about you better than I do."

It is only 8:30 in the morning, and my day is turning questionable already --I can hear "Sneaky Snake" being played from the Janitor's closet. Now, while I love Tom T. Hall and all of his funny songs... That is not something I typically want to hear first thing in the morning... Hmmmm... We'll have to see how this all pans out in the grand scheme of things.

Hey I thought of a way! The way you just said.

Seriously, strike up a conversation, find out of she is open to pop punk and then lend her the album using that exact same phrasing.

This technically went down on Friday when I was drunk.  Angry Short(er) Guy nearly punched me for checking out this girl's ass.  I am a 5'3" blond woman with glasses.  The weird thing was that after the girl and her friend hustled him away, her friend came back and kissed me.  Oh, and of course the other weird thing is that ASG's so controlling that nobody can look at her except him.  That was mildly terrifying.

Shit happens when you drink.  Also, don't ever lean in to hear what someone's saying to you: it places you within punching/kissing range.

Alternatively, use this fact to your advantage. One of the most memorable exchanges I've had was the time in a noisy bar when a girl actually rested her cheek against mine while leaning in to talk into my ear. I don't recall the conversation at all (I think she was saying some pleasantry about the quality of the drinks there or something) but I sure do recall the girl.

Last night we decided to make drunken Risk a weekly thing. Now we need to figure out exactly what the rules will be, because one shot per territory taken would kill us.

just do it like how you distribute the cards. Anytime you complete a turn having taken a territory, take a card and a shot. Any time you hand in a set of cards, take a shot. You could maybe increase the number of shots taken per successive hand-in if you feel up to it.

What went down with me today???

It's my first year as a librarian.  Thus this week is my first week experiencing the MAD DASH to pay taxes before it's too late.

There are so many people asking me how to do their taxes and I can’t tell them how because it’s against the library’s policy and I can’t be liable.  I just can’t believe there are this many people that waited this long to get started.  I mean do these people just forget every year how to do this?!?

For God's sake people!

http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/article/0,,id=98155,00.html

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4868.pdf

I was even going to start a new thread asking people if they had paid their taxes yet but honestly I don’t know how many people on this forum actually pay taxes yet and I didn’t want to feel old...

Yeah so that’s my world right now.

I did my taxes a month ago but wish I had taken care of them sooner. Also, finding out my like 5 different part-time teaching jobs weren't withholding enough sucked (not their fault; they were each assuming they were my sole source of income.)

I ran three miles. That was kind of fun. Also kind of insane.

I am apparently going to a strip club on Friday with a group of friends, all of whom are male, except for one girl. This is going to turn out either amazing, or awkward. Or both.

Also, I guess there's one really fat girl who "works" there, whose name is Chocolate. Like, 300 pounds fat. My reaction to her is gonna be something in between laughter and vomiting.

I don't have to pay taxes this year because I am a lazy cunt and I didn't earn enough this year for the IRS to give a damn. It really isn't worth it to me to send my government even further in debt just to get $300. I can make $300 in like a week at work. Hell, I made more than 5x that in sales in a day.

I am finally recovering from being hella sick! I can sing Ted Leo *and* Silver Jews again!

I saw one of those once and this was at an all nude establishment. It took all of my concentrated effort to not fire off a spitball right at her...well, you know where. I could've done it, too, I have excellent spitball aim.

Wait, seriously?  i.e. with a five day work week, you could have made almost $400,000 a year?  Or was that your total gross sales, of which you were only paid $8 or $9 an hour?  'Cause I'm in the latter situation, and if I'd jump at a chance to be in the former.

Sounds like the latter to me, though I'm heavily inclined to believe he's exaggerating unless he was working in an EXTREMELY high traffic area or a really high end store, neither of which I'm liable to believe Patrick has done much consistent work at at his age (No offense man, but it's not exactly common). When I worked retail sales, I was one of the best sales people we had at my store and the only time I'd consistently see sales in excess of $1500 a day myself was around the holidays (Though at one job, I'd occasionally pull 1500, it'd be an occurance that happened at most six to eight times a month).

Correct

he was working in an EXTREMELY high traffic area

Correct. McDonald's drive-thru in a decent-size town in Alaska with a lot of poor folks, fishermen, and school-age kids.

Seeing as I just named every possible demographic in the entire state, you can see why sales ain't so bad during the summer. I only made $9 an hour though.

Shane, if you do not get going, I'll be adding myself to this list. Come on man! GOGOGO! You can do it!

I found out yesterday why I never liked doing lunges. Why? Because they are the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. They make my legs hurt and therefore make me walk funny. Damn it. (I had to do lunges before I swam in my swimming class yesterday.) But the good thing is I'm pretty sure I swam somewhere between a mile and a mile and a half yesterday morning. I felt great until I got out of the pool and realized my thighs were yelling, "Walking? Oh hell no!" The only reason I know they hurt because of lunges was because we were mostly doing upper body workouts.

I regularly make $1,500 or more (I topped $3,000 around Easter) of sales per day.  But I work at a tourist trap in a touristy place of one of the most touristy cities in the nation.

Even with your explanation, though, Patrick, I'm honestly surprised that McDonalds in Alaska does that well!  Good for them, I suppose.

all of my friends are done finals except me and i have two more to write tomorrow and the day after that and if i have to read another word about pavlovian conditioning or hull's drive theory or the rescorla-wagner model i am going to vomit all over the place. projectile, like a super-soaker. except i don't have that option, instead i have to read like, thousands of words on it because i don't fucking know anything even though my exam is tomorrow afternoon. deciding to minor in psychology was maybe the dumbest decision i ever made because not only is psychology kind of a useless field (if you don't end up pursuing a career specifically related to psychology, which i'm not) but it's also really fucking HARD.
when i told a friend about this course her response only made things worse: "wow, you're taking principles of learning huh? yeah i remember that course. i've never seen so many people turn in a blank exam and walk out before."
this really sucks and i know it's pretty lame of me complaining about finals on the internet since almost every university student, ever, has to write finals and it's just sort of part of life and my situation is not that unique but i really had to get this out of my system because i am so close to losiing my mind right now it is insane. feel free to not even read this post i guess. wait no it's too late for that. oh well.

Man, gotta love Pavlov's experiments. Or you don't. God I can't wait for my Psych 101 to be over so I never have to sit through that lady's class ever again. Seriously though, you're already up for finals? None of mine are until the middle of May. Of course I have a very long paper and an enormous editing project that still isn't done between me and then, and I haven't registered for classes next year yet even though I've been able to since 1:30 and I gotta go!

psychology kind of a useless field

Man, I would strongly dispute that. While clinical/abnormal psychology is pretty far removed from most people's day-to-day existence, behavioral psychology is probably the most relevant of the humanities to the average person's life.

Today I went to two out of three classes and took a quiz in one of them. Tonight I parked my butt on a university computer and made a poster for my anthropology class. It's pretty!

I played Star Wars RPG with my friends. And learned that one of them is moving to Boston for grad school, and didn't tell any of us. We only found out because his boss knows one of the other guys in our group and mentioned that he had filled out his resignation notice.  blog

Fuck yeah, even with my legendary procrastination, I still have managed to not only get al of the classes I needed, but I compressed them into a mere three days! Sure, I'll be in school for twelve straight hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but its worth it.

I think she might be referring to how incredibly career specific it is. And it is, luckily though I am pursuing a career in clinical psychology so hurrah!

Also I just got woken from a rather pleasent nap by a rather pleasent woman from a market research company wanting me to come in for a job interview for exactly the kind of thing I have been looking for. Hot Damn.
