I found this song somewhere in the depths of the internet a few years ago. I don't remember where. I like it, but I know nothing about it. I figured that since you guys know more bands than I know words, you could help. It's not really a recording, I think. It sounds like a MIDI file. The filename was "17_42.mp3", if that tells you anything.

Any idea who this could be, and on top of that, what genre would you call this?

cool song. i have no idea what it could be, but it's pretty neat. it sounds kind of like a more polished version of something that might have appeared in Doom . . . or something.

have you ever listened to Holy Fuck? they were pretty much the first band that came to mind while i was listening to that.

It sounds kind of like a remix of the song from Level 1 of Doom.  If that's the case, it's Nine Inch Nails (I believe).

NIN didn't do Doom, though they did score Quake. I remember there being controversy over the Doom soundtrack being MIDI ripoffs of Slayer or somesuch.
