Indeed, thanks for that.

I kind of just skimmed over the topic and remembered having read something about the long weekend.

In 11 days I will be on an airplane! ZOOM

It has been a while since I had a holiday!  Well, since easter I guess.  Which isn't that long ago.  It feels like a long time!  Anyway the point is, I have never been to Sydney and I am looking forward to hanging out with the internet.

G'day all! I have been coaxed back onto the forums (not that i was ever a prolific poster) by Jimmy (who works in the same building as me) asking "Why don't we see you on the forums anymore?" with his puppy dog eyes.

So now I have Jimmy's number and am planning to tag along for at least part of this Sydney weekend.

Screw you guys and your community. The NZ qc forum scene is dead. Kat's moving to the States, Blackmage/Richard is stuck in bloody Hamilton and no one even knows what happened to Beerman...
You guys are so hanging out with me if (more likely "when") I move to Sydney.

Hey guys, I'm up for some kind of Sydney thing (thanks to Jimmy for reminding me). Is Newtown still on the cards? We could probably have some kind of awesome food in the park with all the dog fanciers and such, or if it's raining, go up to one of many cafes/pubs/Thai pun restaurants on the main drag.

(P.S. The Courthouse Hotel has a lovely beer garden, if it isn't raining)

(P.P.S. Do not go to the Olde Fishe Shoppe Cafe, as I used to work there, and it is the devil)

Fuck, you actually had me really worried there for a minute! I had a similar sort of acquantance* die a few weeks ago and it would have been horrible to lose another so soon.

*Someone I'd talked to a bunch of times online and knew a bit about. Although I've never met Gryff IRL so it'd be a little different.

Well Jimmy and est and I will be in there at some point during the day, depending on when the boys arrive from Sydney, so we will be able to entertain Jodie if I can come up with some things to show them other than the giant penis.

I doubt I can come up with enough to sustain them until 10pm, though.

I finish work on Saturdays at 3pm. I could very easily meet you guys after that for hangouts. It may be possible for me to leave early from work on Saturdays, but I kind of need the money.

Basically, I am free after 3pm on Saturdays.

I will remember to check this thread. Let me know what/when/where/why you will be around and I will make my way there after work. It will be fairly simple for me to catch a bus into town if that is where you will all be.

Uh no. Newcastle and its surrounding towns/suburbs/parts of Newcastle are much the same size as Sydney, but with less people and more cows. Also we have probably about twenty 'official' beaches and lots and lots of smaller ones.
Would you like me to carry on extolling the virtues of my hometown or would you like me to shut up now?

I was going to upload some of my pictures but I can't for the life of me figure where Jimmy's USB is. Somewhere down there in the glowing blue LED gorgeousness, I presume. I'm kinda scared of it.

Oh well. Anyway, today we are taking jodie touristing in the city! To see the bridge and opera house and all that jazz. Also pancakes. Hooray!

I half-jokingly suggested such a thing in this thread, but sadly the thread seems to have been co-opted by those cheap and dastardly Northern Hemispherians to plan some kind of "ChicagoCon" or somesuch.

If there ever was to be an AustralasiaCon, obviously it would have to be in Melbourne, because it has the largest amount of cool stuff to do the Sydney/Newcastle area, because it has the highest density of Australian forumites.

We evil North Americans love you Ausies, although we don't understand the heavy coats and such in the middle of summer.  But we all cannot simply afford the flight costs, and room and board to get to Aussieland.  (although, I totally want to do so in the next year or two)

We will have a proper Oz-con.

It will have a beach nearby and be in summer. If people are up for this, I will get the ball moving. Seriously! But it's a bit early for organisation - that's MONTHS away!

Oh, but we're supposed to be able to afford the flight costs, and room and board to get to america?

I would love to go to Melbourne and hang out there and do stuff, but I am lazy and poor, so it will probably be in Sydney for me to go to it at the moment. In a year, who knows what the situation will be, though.

Yes but there is, what, two Melbournians here? I am not sure they would be happy with the entire Australasian QC contingent asking to crash in their loungeroom. (Me, I'm happy to offer but Newcastle is a bit boring if you are not into beaches or coffee or nice weather.)

FYP

Guys, I understand the logic of having it in Sydney and I'm not really complaining per sé but (and don't get offended here people) I just really don't like Sydney at all, whereas I love Melbourne.

Me, I'm happy to offer but Newcastle is a bit boring if you are not into beaches or coffee or nice weather.

1 out of 3 isn't bad.

P.S; I don't care who with, but I would most definitely be couch-surfing.

I have had internet people crash at mine on no less than two occasions. I'm totally cool with it happening again.

Edit: Hopefully this won't take place in January because it's looking more and more likely that I will be in America hanging out with Shane and Jon then.

Monday lunch. Aztex's eye, Est (didn't put his face down), Godinpants, Jimmy the Squid, his lady friend Lise, Eris, Ebony Willow and Lunchy's nostrils.

The cupcakes that Jodie and I made!

Jimmy helped me lace up my new shoes. I only had to tighten that one a little when adjusting it to fit my leg properly!

Doesn't he look dashing?

I also have a number of blurry photos of me on this camera avoiding having a photo taken. They aren't going to be posted, but everyone else seemed to think that it was the challenge of the weekend to get a photo of me to see if I can avoid all the cameras at once. They probably have some they can put up here.
