the duck-billed, egg-laying, poison-footed mammal niche

Your overall point is sound, but note that your concept of a "niche" is a little too specific. Imagine, say, penguins. The niche is a medium sized swimming predator that lives in polar regions; there is no environmental pressure distinguishing between a bird or mammal, or between beaks or teeth, or a number of attributes of penguins. That other stuff is just how things ended up.

yeah, i was being intentionally silly to prove a point.

i just don't like the idea of one of evolutions biggest triumphs being used to support a case for a god.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

In that case, note that slick was being even sillier. I mean, in case the platypus macro didn't give it away.

If Jesus came back today you know he'd be spreading the gospel through macros. I'd probably attend the first church of lolcat.

...I dunno. He's still pretty darn cute. Kinda hard to fear something that makes me go all gooey.

You know what else makes you gooey?

The poison in his feet.

Jimmy once stabbed a man with a platypus. This kind of thing goes on all the time in Australian pubs.

With cake ownership set to C and cake consumption set to K, then C + K = 0.  So indeed as one consumes a cake, one simultaneously deprives oneself of cake ownership.
