Don't know if anyone here is into dnb/jungle, but I'm going to see Remarc this Friday. He's a jungle producer who was big in the 90's. I'm pretty keen for some crazy stupid dancing. Chopped up amen beats ahoy!

How were they? Their debut was fantastic but I can't help but get the feeling that they're more of a studio band. The clips I've seen of them live make it seem like it's difficult to reproduce their recordings exactly in a live setting.

Matchbox B Line Disaster are playing soon and despite they're stupidly long name they were great when I last saw them supporting QOTSA. Its gunna be even better this time because they're playing a really small venue and its going to be packed.

In May, MONO will be performing one show in a church in New York with a full orchestra. It'll be the first time ever. There's only going to be the one performance and it's not the kind of thing that's likely to happen again. In other words, I couldn't be more excited for May.

Yeah, it does sound pretty amazing. I think they'll be performing mostly their new album, which features the orchestra on much of it, but they could also be reworking older stuff to include an orchestra, which would be awesome. There's strings on some of their older songs but nothing as epic as a full accompaniment. Who knows, maybe we'll even get a song off the WEG collaboration. Anyway, I'm not sure when it's happening or where exactly. The only info I've heard (from an interview with Taka Goto) is that it'll be sometime in May and it'll be in a church in NYC. I'm sure once the date/location is confirmed that info will be on the band's and label's website so....if I happen to see it I'll post it here for sure. It just sounds so damn amazing! And yeah, a meet up would be pretty fun. I thought I was excited for the new album (and I really, really am) but this just might take the cake. Plus they're incredible live to begin with (one of my favorite live bands in fact). Of course, after this show they'll be doing a general U.S. tour, meaning I'll be seeing them at least twice more. Already I can tell this is going to be a good summer!

I just hope the show isn't during my exams. That would be the most terrible thing.

i should point out that this^ was an amazing gig.  made even more awesome by the fact that support acts were A (yes, a band called "A"!) who've reformed for the tour (and are promising a new album now apparently!) and are one of the best british pop-rock bands of the last 10 years, and Tragedy, a heavy metal tribute to the bee-gees.  which i don't need to tell you is fucking AWESOME, and pretty hilarious too!

Mogwai.
Early March.

I assume this is at the festival with Gary Numan? I kinda wish that was in my state, but I can't justify travelling for it.

Nevereverland in 10 days for me - Presets, Klaxons, Cut Copy, other bands. Should be fun!

So TSO was fucking awesome, every bit as good as they were last year.  This years guest (SPOILER ALERT) was Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame.  His two songs weren't bad, but the main show was fantastic.  Highly recommended if you haven't seen them yet.

Yeah, I saw them last year and the singer acted like he didn't even want to be there. I think asdfjhkljfgah;gk peaked after their second album "zxcvmn,b." It's been all downhill since then.

Going to Roadburn next year :D, here's the line-up so far

Mono, Neurosis, Six Organs of Admittance, Orange Goblin, Cathedral, Amon Düül II, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Motorpsycho, Baroness, The Young Gods, OM, The Atomic Bitchwax, Saint Vitus, Wolves in the Throne Room, Colour Haze, Ufomammut, Angel Witch, Minsk, Rose Kemp, Shora, Akimbo, Guapo, Steve Von Till, Solace, Omega Massif, Asva, Skullflower, Negură Bunget, Saviours, A Storm of Light, Alexander Tucker, Church of Misery, Scott Kelly, Radio Moscow, Roadsaw, Firebird, Black Sun, Farflung, Gnaw Their Tongues, Wino, White Hills, Dyse, The Winchester Club, U.S. Christmas, Dead man, The Devil's Blood, seven that spells, Dragontears, Burial Hex, Gomer Pyle and The Outskirts Of Infinity + about 10 more

Saint Vitus are doing a reunion, Orange Goblin is going to record a live CD, Neurosis is currating the Saturday and are personally inviting 15 bands (7 have yet to be confirmed), there'll be a small venue across the street called the V36 with a special horror electronics / dark ambient night, and on an other day Seven That Spells (awesome Croatian freakrock) are going to play a brain-melting 2 hour set. All this for just 1750 people... It's just going to be awesome.

e: It was also sold out in 45 minutes lol

Well honestly, it's kind of hard to take that disjointed sort of cacophony and pull it off live. Arnold Boisner (gramophone operator) does a pretty good job, but Palmer Reeves (shoebox telephone) can't really keep up, it seems.

I agree completely.  When I saw them live, Reeves switched to the sarrusophone part on "poiu32?v" and just missed the beat entirely.  It was awful.  Samson Ingrid (Lead glockenspiel) just kind of did his own thing and it was clear that the entire 11-man ensemble was pretty disjunct the whole show

Okay remember how some of us were talking about that Mono show with a full orchestra?

Well they anounced the details today. It's on May 8th at Society for Ethical Culture Concert Hall in New York City. It's apparently their only show in north america for the new album so I'd get on buying tickets if I were you. Here is their announcement on myspace for more information.
