I have just had a listen to them, they are dead good. If they ever come to the UK I would let them stay at mine & make them breakfast. That's how much I like it.

if that happens make sure you stock up on mountain dew. trust me.

I heard about it a couple of minutes ago... Amazing indeed, it would be awesome if I can catch up the gig in Denmark.

I just got back from seeing Ween O___O Mind=Blown

They rocked so much, and the crowd went crazy and sung along with Spinal Meningitis Got Me Down, The Mollusk, and Push th' Little Daisies.

oh my god. They did an epic 10+ minute version of reggaejunkiejew and encored with Stroker Ace and You fucked Up.

I got some amazing pictures too.

asdfg 3 and a half hour drive was totally worth it brb passing out.

Playing at the health care reform rally, apparently? Who knows?! All I know is that I got the time off from work to go eat free food and listen to a band I love. It is going to be GREAT.

I just made a small planning of the upcoming shows during the next months.

Electric wizard 6/9
Anathema 23/9
Lifelover 4/10
absu 6/11
Mayhem 13/11
Swallow the sun 29/11
Satyricon 2/12
Hypocrisy 5/2/10

And those are only the ones I really want to see, there are some other shows and small fests I want to go to too, but money will be a bit of a problem.

I might go see Parlovr and Think about Life October 3rd for Pop Montreal. Problem is, the show starts at midnight and the last metro home passes at about 1:30, and the last bus passes at about 1:00...

went to a little show in a coffee shop last night. it was cool, there was a cute chick playing pretty moody songs on acoustic guitar, a chick who played bluegrassy songs on guitar (i mean not my thing but it was cool) and a strange band that used a ton of reverb and were really spacy but had a bassist just pumping out groovy/dancy bass lines. it was cool and they let us smoke inside, which i thought was pretty alright.

Built to Spill 2 nights in a row!  The 17th at one of my favorite venues in the city for a $16 benefit show with The Very Most.  And then the 18 at a free outdoor show for the city's Hyde Park street fair.

A couple of the shows I was going to see fell through but I'm pretty sure I'm seeing
The Weakerthans w/ Rock Plaza Central (yay!)
The Decemberists (crazy lottery show where they pick their set list via a lottery containing all the songs they've ever recorded or played)
Sunset Rubdown
Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Antlers (maybe)
Black Heart Procession w/ Bellini (maybe)

There are a ton of shows I want to go see in the next few months, but it all hinges upon whether I can find rides to each one or not. Tell me which ones you guys recommend so I can get some ammunition in convincing people to take me.

September:
Yo La Tengo
Sunn 0))) (I have a friend who really wants to see this with me...but he doesn't have a car either... :|)
A Hawk and a Hacksaw

October:
The Dodos w/The Ruby Suns

December:
Pelican

Mastodon/High on Fire/Converge 10/18

Converge? DAMN YOU. In a nice way.

On that day I may perhaps go see Alexisonfire, Anti-Flag, The Fall Of Troy and The Ghost of a Thousand.

The day before my birthday I will be going to see Rise Against. I'm just annoyed it took me this long to get to see them, because now they're getting poppy and mainstream, and not in a good way.

Celtic Folk Festival in a few weeks. Get to see Penny Whiskey (one of my favourite local bands, excellence all around) and perhaps Emish this time! They are sort of an Irish folk punk band. Yes!

Christine McVie is far and away my least favourite member of Fleetwood Mac so I'm pretty OK with her not being there.

So I'm probably not going to anything for a while until December, when there is basically a show EVERY FUCKING DAY it would seem.

Bumbershoot was a fucking blast. Just the shows I saw:

Day 1:
Natalie Portman's Shaved Head
Matt & Kim
Old 97's
De La Soul

Day 2:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Michael Franti & Spearhead
MSTRKRFT

Day 3:
Say Hi
Franz Ferdinand
Metric

Gotta say, Franz Ferdinand took the fucking cake for the weekend. Those dudes can out on a goddamn concert. They had the whole thing - giant amps to climb on top of, people spraying water over the crowd, completely off-the-hook lights, and a 10 minute Deadmau5-esque House finale. They might have rocketed to my top 5 shows ever. Yeah Yeah Yeahs & Michael Franti tie for a distant second. (Franti got half a goddamn football field of people all jumping up and down with their arms in the air. Glorious.)

YES. Spread the Franz Ferdinand love.

No, but really, they can put on a show and make you dance/rockthefuckout for 2 hours straight without you being tired.

How were NPSH? I've been meaning to go see them next time they tour near me.

NPSH were a blast - despite being on one of the smaller stages, there was still a sizeable dance party happening. This was helped by the fact that they threw a giant inflatable turtle into the crowd, which people then took turns crowd-surfing on.

Just got back from The Weakerthans at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Holy hell it was good! Makes me even happier I'm seeing them tomorrow as well! Two bands, a German group called Tomte and the Canadian band Rock Plaza Central, opened and both put on excellent sets. After being a huge fan of The Weakerthans for years, however, and never having the chance to see them live, their set was one of the better shows I've been to this year.
Setlist, for those who care:

Night Windows
Tournament of Hearts
Our Intrepid Explorer...
Benediction
Reconstruction Site
Aside
Relative Surplus Value
One Great City!
Sounds Familiar
Bigfoot!
Plea from a Cat Named Virtute
The Reasons
Hymn of the Medical Oddity
Left and Leaving
Civil Twilight
(Manifest)

ENCORE 1:
Utilities
Confessions of a Futon-Revolutionist
Pamphleteer

ENCORE 2:
Watermark
Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure

They didn't play a couple of my favorites, notably Leash, Everything Must Go, History of the Defeated, Sun in an Empty Room, or This is a Fire Door Never Leave Open but after a fairly whopping 21 song set, I definitely can't (and don't want to) complain. Hopefully they'll play some other stuff tomorrow night but I'd even be really happy seeing that same set again (the encores should be different in any case b/c they were deciding which songs to play sorta off the cuff at that point).
