The Muxtape Thread?

As a sort of companion to the Mediafyre thread but in a different vein, I was thinking people (especially the regulars) would like to have a rolling Muxtape as a sort of "radio show", changing it whenever?  And perhaps we could sticky this thread?  It seems like a more immediate way than the Mediafyre thread for people to share music, either thematic mixes or just random whatever.

Anyway, mine will be here, and I'll likely rotate songs out on a pretty regular basis:

This is a pretty good mix and everything, but it doesn't quite live up to the standard you have set:

My latest:

1. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
2. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
3. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
4. Flipper - Sex Bomb
5. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
6. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
7. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
8. Flipper - Sex Bomb
9. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
10. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
11. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
12. Flipper - Sex Bomb
13. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
14. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
15. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
16. Flipper - Sex Bomb

1 hour 24 seconds.

It is basically the Ultimate Mix. I can't really imagine any situation where it wouldn't be suitable!

I am listening to muxtapes tonight!

I am listening to Zerodrone's one right now.  It has been pretty cool so far.  Will be going through as many as I can tonight.

Oh also, mine is now pretty much complete, I've just removed Phantom pt2 and am uploading Waters of Nazereth in its place.

Ooo, you have piqued my interest.  I will give yours a listen.

And yeah, my current one is more of a "what I had on my phone at work" mix.  I know it isn't all that original! I just wanted to play!  Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow night I'll update my one.

edit: really liking your mix so far, Daft Pun.

Not mine but pretty damn good. Those dudes from Animal Collective sure do have taste and the songs are perfectly laced together (stolen from the deerhunter blog). Get Avey Tare's just for the Talk Talk song, if you haven't heard it YOU MUST!

Avey Tare's Mix: http://www.mediafire.com/?grwnmudttue

1. Alabama Sacred Harp Singers - Rocky Road
2. Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows (First Version)
3. Disco Inferno - It's A Kid's World
4. Public Nuisance - Please Come Back
5. Replacements - Within Your Reach
6. Misfits - Brain Eaters
7. Prince Far I - Joshua Dub
8. Talk Talk - I Believe In You
9. Dettinger - Untitled (Track 6 from Intershop)
10. Rodriguez - Sugarman
11. Moby Grape - 8:05
12. Spacemen 3 - We Sell Soul
13. Kate Bush - Army Dreamers
14. Thin Lizzy - Randolph's Tango

In that case (Vista, that is), there's probably a very simple reason; the trouble is that no-one in the world knows what it is.  It's not IE7 itself, though.

I (a computer support manager) have managed to avoid having any Vista in my domain yet, so I can't help with that at present...

Hmmm.  So it doesn't work at all in Opera (my usual browser).  However, it does work in FF2 and IE7 on my machine, but I quite often have to give several separate clicks before it gets on with it.  The embarrassing thing is that I, who maintain several web sites at work, am staring at the HTML, CCS and a load of JS scripts with a debug package, and I haven't a clue how it works at all, apart from that there is some Flash in there (at least, one of the scripts is called swfobject.js).

Right - so it's Flash-based - do you have the latest Flash installed in your browser(s)?

These are pretty great. I think my favourite of the ones I've played so far is est's, although there was a fair bit on Objects Inside Clouds' muxtape I enjoyed too. Sterling work all around so far. My effort is here:

Tommy, do you mean that you don't even see the song names, or that when you click on the song name it doesn't start playing?

Just to clarify, I am using both FF2 and IE7 under Vista successfully.  Hopefully it's just some odd thing getting in the way.

Also, I am leaving my first mix in place for now, but here's a better one (in my opinion)

Odd.  I use Opera as well and have never had a problem with songs loading.

Truly it is a mystery.

So I signed up, all eager to listen to these mixtapes and Badaboom badabang - Windows XP Pro + Firefox 3.0 don't seem to want me doing that.

I can click on any mixtape I want and I get the list of songs - but clicking on any individual song doesn't do anything.
Cannot see any media player controls (like play/pause) anywhere either.

Halp? Anyone familiar with this?
