Of those, the Exa - no question.

The other ones there (most if not all of them were hovering around the £25 mark) were the Baldina (Rigid) and a Kodak Retinette IIa but it was the Exa 500 and Retina Reflex that I was mainly eyeing up.

I'll go back on Thursday and, hoping they're still there, make a purchase of the Exa 500.

I like the one of the yellow & blue train.

Here's a pic I've taken of a train: http://debellos.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=72#/d1tgf1n

Hey, I've been there!  I spend a week in KC every summer (grading AP Calc exams).  I've been on the bridge you can see in the background.  There's a kick-ass BBQ place on the left side, I think.

Actually, there's a kick-ass barbecue place every three blocks or so in KC...

I always try to get them to let me take the train, but they insist that we fly out.   :-(

Yeah, I stand by the fact that Kansas City has at least the best BBQ in the Midwest, if not the world.  Gate's is my favorite, but Arthur Bryant's is more popular for a reason that's beyond me.

As for the train, it should be cheaper than flying or driving if yr alone.  When you have 3+ people it becomes more expensive to take the train, since the gas cost doesn't outweigh the ticket cost anymore.  It's about $40 one way to St. Louis from Kansas City including luggage IIRC for one person.

Gates is  truly excellent!  I've had Jack Stacks, too, but it's pretty pricey.  Arthur Bryant got national name recognition at one point, but you're right - it's nowhere near as good as Gates.  But the best I had there was in a little bar downtown that I'll be damned if I can find again...

The company I do this contract work for won't pay for the train, only a plane.  Which is asinine, a round trip from central PA is about $320, much cheaper than plane fare.  It takes longer (there's a 12 hour layover in downtown Chicago), but the airlines are just as bad nowadays with the missed connections and insane routing - last year, I flew from central PA to Philly, to Denver (!!) then to KC.

Where the fuck's the sense in that?

Not quite sure how to put in thumbnails :psyduck: If anyone is so inclined to check out my photos, they are here :) I have a Canon 1000D and mainly use my nifty fifty, but I also have a 18-55mm kit lens and a 75-300mm kit lens.

I bought a Lubitel 2 and took it along on a vacation this August for my first batch of film photos (pretty sure even as a kid I just used disposables any time I took photos).

Here's one

And this is one I took last year that I only now had the spare income to pay to have the reel developed.

I have, like, two weeks of them queued up on my tumblr, if you're interested.

So, I randomly got some flickr views from here, which reminded me that I haven't been on in forever. I've moved my focus to live music photography, but I still dabble in a little of everything (click for big):

So I am in Nebraska trying to land a job.   Car broke down, stranding me.   No way to get to my interview 15 miles outside of town... and it's too cold to walk.

Out of money, out of cab fare...    Only one option left.

Open the portal.

Spotted this while waiting for the tow truck this morning.      8-)

I've always thought this thread was for the more arty photos because it's in this subforum. A place to share something you made and to get critical feedback, possibly if wanted.
The Chatter thread is more for interesting things to share, like your new car or cool place you were at, but aren't necessarily taken to be pretty or studied.

Yeah, back in the day the Chatter photo thread was only for faces/people, while this one's for more arty photography. Eventually the Chatter thread turned into a catch-all while this one died.

I'm all for bringing a more arty photo thread back though, really liking those pics, oscillik! You definitely have an eye for light and composition!

I do some photography as a hobby.  Here is a link to my deviantart gallery:
