I bought a camera recently so I could take decent video and learn how to use editing software.  It's a canon 550d so it takes photo, too.  I don't really have a huge interest in photo but I figured I should force myself to learn since I have the camera.
I have a photo a day (ish) blog that anyone is welcome to check out. Criticism is helpful so I can learn what I may be doing wrong or right.  Thanks.

Here's all of my cameras. The one on the right is my film camera I got for my photography class.

I only just started working, and only 10 hours a week for near minimum wage. The silver camera was only $200 and I got that a few years ago. The 1D I traded my 50D for, which was a christmas gift. The film camera was only $60. And I have cheap lenses. I wish I could afford the good expensive stuff, but what I have gets the job done most of the time.

They're tearing down a church in town. Went over for some pictures today. Here's one:

Glad I had the 1D. I got a little dusty :D Here's why:

There were about 10 people behind me when that happened. I didn't take my face away from the camera during that so I wouldn't get it in my eyes. When I turned around, everyone was gone :D You can see the dust on my lens. Don't think I got any in it though, no grinding feeling when zooming in/out, and it looks fairly clean.

The steeple is coming down tomorrow. Should look pretty cool.

Niiiiiiiceee.. a Eos 1D II with a EF 70-200 f4 from the professional L-Series.

Thats something i am already beeing saving for the last 2 years. Btw: Totally cool sunset pictures.

And this is a picture i took recently (dont mind the Year in the Exif, it seems that my Canon does not switch to a new year on its internal calendar)

It's actually the f/2.8 IS. The f/2.8 has the petal hood, and the f/4 has the round hood.

Nice shot btw :D

The F/2.8? :-o :-o :-o   The IS original or the IS II Series? Dang. Those REALLY cost money. We sell them even used  for nearly 2 grands. Btw: Both f2.8 and f4 can come with either full or petal hood, don't know if those come directly with them in the US, but here in DE they both are sold without any. Can buy them extra. Makes Canon mo' money.

It's the MkI. I found it for only $1200. I haven't seen it for under $1400 used, so I had to go for this. Came with everything too, and even a filter.

Also, I've never seen a petal hood on an f/4 before. The hood for the f/2.8 won't fit on the f/4 since the f/2.8 diameter is 77mm and the f/4 is 67mm.

AWESOME.

A picture with 75% of it showing reflecting surfaces AND its sharp as a knife. The region of focus ending exactly on the beginning of the roof... did you do it by hand or via tripod?

Thanks :D I shot it by hand. I was just walking around snapping shots and I really like how this one turned out. The 70-200 is an amazing lens.

Also, here's a full size version if you want it: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/239/e/b/corvette_by_guitarfreak2-d2xfa24.jpg

Thanks Guitarfreak.

The big ol' original version showed me that it must have been very hot on this day. Because there's a lot of chromatic noise in it. Happens with my pictures too, the moment when the camera body gets warmer than 20 C.

I have made some pictures recently, on the very same day with the same cam to test it. Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Evening. Camera on a tripod, not moving. Same "Poster" on the wall. Difference was only the temperature.

And whenever the camera (due to the room temperature, i live in an appartment directly under the roof) got warmer... the color noise level raised kinda exponentially... (which is not a secret, hey, that is just dull physics on the sensor).

It wasn't really too hot. The noise is from shooting ISO400, and pushing the exposure a stop or so in lightroom, and no noise reduction.

Anyway, here's one of my cat

And here, something that grew nearly unnoticed on my kitchen window board. I mean, i was just curious if pepper seeds would grow after they were left from my pizza meal. And yes. The seeds made it. Baking on a pizza did not kill them. I noticed that something grew. But between my other plants, this little thing really had hidden its fruit. Today, while i was cleaning the plants, i noticed that there is something in my window jungle. And it inspired me to do a colour splash photo. And yes, that is the original red. That pepper glows, i swear.

I haven't really gotten out much with my camera in the last few years, but what I do have I'm fairly proud of. Nothing very artsy, I just like interesting subjects.

And more on my site though I really need to take the time to update it with newer pics one of these days.

So, I stumbled upon a lovely underground antique/flea market in the Lanes in Brighton and they have a few still-working film cameras.

Two caught my eye. One is the Exa 500, the other is the Retina Reflex, Type 025.

I'll be going back in a few days to buy one, but I'm unsure which. Any suggestions?
