My Morning Jacket in the comic
« on: 14 Jul 2008, 20:32 »

I was wondering, is there anyone who knows the archive well enough (or just has lots of time on their hands) who could tell me if there are any strips referencing My Morning Jacket? I just got their new album, and being a longtime QC nerd, I decided to see if there were any strips about it... but I'm too lazy to go through the whole archive...

I do not recall that band being mentioned. Being that I have never heard any of their songs nor do I know the names of their songs or their lyrics, I cannot be sure.

Useless fact no. 1544: in Mexican spanish, "Jacket" ("Chaqueta") is used as an euphemism for masturbation.

No idea about the band, never knew it existed, just the post title sounds very funny if you mental translate it to spanish and apply mexican euphemisms.

Because if you say jacket, it can sound like jack it.

I can't think of a reference to them anywhere in the comic. And I would probably notice. I'm in Louisville and they're kind of local heroes around here.

How could My Morning Jacket never have been referenced on this comic? They're so stellar. "At Dawn" was one of the few albums I've heard and instantly loved. And if Band of Horses has been referenced before and MMJ has not, I would be very internet-upset.

Oh well. Yeah, I just went through most of the archives... maybe it's not good comic material because they're too good to make fun of? Nah. But still, Evil Urges is pretty amazing.

Jeph said he stopped referencing bands in the comic a while back because he got bored of it.

Also: maybe he just doesn't like My Morning Jacket?
