Got drunk left the acoustic at this kids house. Then the other two are just due to having a very shitty friend. My Amp, and everything else got taken.

Ibanez Artstar - Not the stock pickups.  I put in some gibson stuff, it sounds nice.

Schecter Diamond Series - It is semi hollow and orange.  Has a p 90 type pick up and a humbucker.  It is cool.

Fender MIM 72 Telecaster Deluxe Reissue

Washburn HB 32

Some random Danelectro I bought to practice wiring and soldering on.

Takamine Santa Fe Acoustic

Alverez Yari from the 70's

Some Cheapo Spanish guitar.

It's a Duo Jet. I'd reckon it's nothing short of outstanding.

Five. In order of acquisition:

1. Cheap electric from Sears (Harmony?) that I got out of high school, horrible sound/feel, should pawn it.
2. Cheap acoustic no-name guitar, bought at yard sale, very high action horrible sound flaking paint job. Should also be pawned or just thrown out.
3. Takamine Jasmine acoustic, this is my baby, the one I play most often and learned the most from. Frets are a bit large but so far I've managed some pretty sounds.
4. Epiphone Embassy bass, I love this instrument, I'm just starting out on bass but I already think I like it more than guitar. It's certainly been easier to pick up but I haven't had a chance to jam with other players yet.
5. Daisy Rock Debutante electric... technically I don't own this one yet, but I will in a few days when it comes into the shop. A little leery of buying a "girl" guitar even though I am a girl but who knows, maybe it will be easier to handle than my full-scale Takamine. I've heard other girl players (and guys with small hands) give this company glowing reviews.

And I'm still at beginner level. I think at this point I like the collecting more than the actual playing, or maybe it's just that I don't have time for the actual playing. If/when I sell the first two, though, it will not seem so ridiculous.

I've got...

Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass.  Red with white trim.  She is my baby.
Fender Telecaster cherry sunburst with tortoise shell pickguard
Ibanez Talman (TCY10E) Electro Acoustic, Black
Ibanez Talman (TCY20) Electro Acoustic Red Sunburst
Nameless Fender Jazz Rip off I compiled from bits.  British racing green, White pickguard.
Westone Fretless Bass
Unreasonably old Mexican 12 string Acoustic
Random Schecter thing

I used to own a Hofner Verithin Semi Acoustic Bass in Red from 1962, but I had to sell to help fund the buying of a home studio.  Still miss it tho..

My first guitar was a cheap nylon guitar my dad got me from a flea market. but i don't count that as one of my guitars. also, i have no idea where it is, so:

My first real guitar is a yamaha pacifica electric. It's pretty beat up, but i started using it again in my first year of college cuz i didn't want to bring my other guitar. so I use it fairly often now

My second guitar, the one i use to wreck the hell out of my fingers on a daily basis is this one:

http://www.ovationguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=20
I play it with Ernie Ball Earthwood (medium) strings and it sounds fantastic.

speaking of which, a strings thread would probably be a really good idea.

Time to join this largest dick competition.

I personally own 4 guitars. I have 3 electrics and an acoustic. My dad though, I think has 7 acoustics and 2 resonators.

My acoustic is a lovely 1920's Lyon and Healy that my dad got off of ebay and repaired. It has quite a deep v neck which took a while to get used to, but it has an excellent sound and is very playable. A lovely guitar, which has a cool beat up gangster style case ( like the violin ones but scaled up).

First electric guitar I got was a Peavey Raptor. It is bright red and was ok to play, the actions a little to high on it and I rarely play it these days. It does however sound awesome when played with a slide, and a lot of distortion, the horrible rust on the strings (haven't been changed in years) adds another element of cool to the sound.

Next guitar I got was a Japanese Fender Jaguar. It has a nice sound which I have only really discovered now after getting a good amp to play it through. The bridge on Jaguars is crap so I replaced it with a Jagstang bridge ( I think, might have been a mustang). This mod makes it a hell of a lot more playable, If any of you are thinking of getting a jaguar, put a new bridge on it. The strings I have on it are a bit to heavy and for this reason the guitar doesn't get the attention it deserves, I should really do something about that but I've never gotten round to it.

My favourite guitar by far is my Mexican Telecaster Custom. The neck on it is amazing and the so is the sound. It's black and looks awesome as well. Guitar was stringless for a while after making some mods to it, but it is back in action now. I really don't play guitar enough now, I should really get my arse into gear and learn some new stuff.

Discussions about strings should go in the guitar topic I reckon. Its a pretty good place for it.

...I'm not sure that particular discussion really counts as proper discourse. I mean, shit, it's where I got my sig quote.

[EDIT] Okay, never mind. I double checked. That discussion was only half as uninformative (but just as awesome!) as I remembered it.

Also, I still only have the one guitar. I'm a failure as a forumite and a person.

My strat i don't play that much, mostly because I have a shitty amp.  It's still lots of fun to play though, it's got super low action.

I can get an SG cheap at the local store, but I want to get the gibson one, if I were to get an Epi, I would get a cherry burst les paul.

You remember that whole thing where I am selling my SG? Yeah, nothing new there.

Three, counting my bass. None of them are really anything special. I've got a Fender acoustic that I don't play all that much, a hollow-body Squier that I absolutely adore, and an Ibanez bass that I've had since I was 12.

Do it, man.  It plays and sounds beautifully.  Good sized body and great neck.  The neck isn't overly wide like many acoustics, and it's got low action.  At the time i bought it, i wasn't looking for an electro-acoustic (Personally, at least for gigs, I think miced acoustics sound better than acoustic pick ups) but I'm slightly regretting not having the ease of plug & play.  Plus, it only cost me $475 USD but the guy also gave me $50-$75 off.

Is your fiddle any good? I'm a violinist, and actually have never been able to tell the difference (if there is one) between a violin and a fiddle. I played a lot on it, and was pretty good, but then I fell in love with the guitar and don't play my violin as vigorously. I might as well say it's a Scott Cao, made in California, pretty good as non-pro violins go.

As far as  I'm aware, there is *no* difference between the modern fiddle and the classical violin except for how it is played.  That is not to say, however, that some types of fiddles (such as the Nordic Hardanger) are not very distinctly different from a violin.

I only have one guitar. A lebanese classical guitar that my grandfather gave my father when he moved in Canada. My father was self-taught and he developped bad playing habits so he stopped playing it. He gave it to me two years ago. I could never play it. The peghead were so rusty that when I tried to tune the guitar, it cracked the handle.

Fiddle's got a flatter bridge and nut. Makes it easier to play two strings at once as is so common in ceilidh and bluegrass music.

A Jay Jr. Acoustic and a Gibson SG.
The Gibson was a budget-guitar carried by Best Buy for a few months/year. I would never recommend the instrument upon someone.

My amp is a Peavey Blazer 158 Transtube Amplifier. I really need to see how it sounds using another guitar with it.

Doubt it was a real gibson, my friend and I refer to his kit-guitar Les Paul knock-off as a les paul, even though it is a cheap-feeling hollowbody POS with an acoustic neck.

Yeah, I think Gibson owns the Baldwin company, but believe me, they're not Gibsons.  Baldwin seems to make bargain instruments for beginners and students.  I have one of their violins, which also has the Gibson name on it, and it's not great.

Yes it has Gibson-Baldwin on the box.

Two. One is an Epiphone Les Paul Special. It is quite nice and i got it real cheap second hand, currently it is tuned to C and is used almost exclusively to play Sleater Kinney songs. The other is a no name tele copy. I am quite fond of it and plays rather nicely, it is tuned to standard right now.

The only reason the Gibson name is on there at all is so that the uninformed will buy it (Gibson is a huge name in the world of guitars), and when people bitch about the poor quality, the answer they'll get is "What, you thought this was an actual Gibson USA instrument? Hey dude can I interest you in some oceanfront property in Arizona?"

Oooh how much!?
Yeah I fell for the trap of buying it. It was my first electric, and I hadn't done any research on them. I just saw the instrument perusing Best Buy and thought "cool" and asked for it for Christmas. I became kind of suspicious when I tried looking my guitar up when I got it (2 and a half years ago) and had trouble finding it.

Have you put in a Kaoss Pad yet? Those things are awesome, and it would be easy (relatively) on my hollowbody Dano, but I can't force myself to do anything to it. It's like the brother I never had.
What would be awesome would be putting in a circuit-bent speak and spell, so it activates when you play. Pointless? Sure. Too awesome to resist? 100%.

I have four guitars.  The first is a really stripped down Epiphone SG that I bought in a starter pack when I was first learning.  I also have an Ibanez Jet King.  The other two are acoustics.  One is a Sunlite, who I'm pretty sure is a drum maker.  The other is an exotic wood Ibanez.

Oh I was thinking more along the lines of installing capacitors with on-off switches (like the mid-kill switch on a Jaguar) or doing coil-taps or other weird-but-simple shit like that. I'd buy it as a "Mod it and abuse the shit out of it" guitar, because seriously, who needs a whammy bar when you could just push down really hard on the body and up on the neck? So what if you snap the neck joint, the fucker was like $50.

I own an Epiphone les paul classic, an Ibanez rip off telecaster from the 70's, a cheap dean semi-hollow, a wrecked guild acoustic (my heart broke when its neck did), a chet atkins epiphones special, a american high way one fender jazz bass, a cheap beater bass, and a classical from mexico, so um 8?
