MDBS At Work
« on: 26 Aug 2008, 17:19 »

Here I am running one of the machines at work:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZYlcdvU1XU

This is a bending machine that can be reconfigured to bend flat sheets and bars into any shape.  I'm talking massive power here directed through those punches.

My job is to set up those punches and the dies on the bottom and program the length of the section to be bent and the degrees of angle I want.    Then I run the parts.   Some parts get bent once... one part I did gets bent 30 times.

This piece I'm making gets used in a computer case, it's a side-rail with vent slats cut in it for a high-end data-collection box for secure point-of-sale networks.

You might have better luck with responses if you make this a general thread about power tools or DIY or something like that, and not about yourself at work!

I myself own a drill. It's pretty nice. My ladyfriend owns more power tools than me, including a fairly large circular saw. This sometimes elicits humorous comments regarding who wears the pants in this goddamn relationship.

I am pretty sure that I can not be made to care.  It is ok though!  The world is a funny place, perhaps there are people here who will enjoy the clip.

Looks like a largely accidental Futurama reference.

Futura?  Bender?  Coincidence?  I think so.

I am sorry my friend, but with the name Lord of Fail it does not inspire confidence in your videos.

Have you ever noticed how anytime a news crew/photographer comes into a lab, they always take shots of people pipetting something?

That is because pipetting is way radical.

I was under the impression that pipetting is all that happens in the field of science.

In the biological sciences anyway. "Biology" is latin for "pipette."

Hey fuck you.

Sometimes we use measuring cylinders instead of pipettes, I'll have you know.

(also I had this idea to make pipette holsters out of faux-leather and sell them to scientists, complete with pipette-tip bullet bandoliers. I'm going to make millions)

When called away in the middle of typing a post, you don't have to hit the Post button.
