I too, adore me some mascara. I am running out and am too poor to buy more! But I need it! Brittany, I suggest combing your eyelashes prior to applying the mascara, or at least doing that wiggle at the roots business, just to seperate them a little more. Otherwise, looks hella nice!

Also, I kind of agree with you on the bronzer bit, I mean, not for me, I am not a fan, I am a blush girl all the way, but for the dude. It's gay, but way less gay than blush.

Kieff: I think something that could be fun is like bronze eyeshadow on the inside corner of the eyes, like the duct areas near the nose and black mascara. I think that would looks really good since you have really blue eyes. Don't do blush, though. Blush is something that is just too feminine and I don't think even you could pull it off. Like, I think it would just come off looking gay instead of fashion forward or experimental.  Also, I think you should rock lipstick. I'd like to see it. I dunno about nailpolish though...I don't know if it would look good with the type of hands/fingernails you have. But I mean, hey, if you try, I wanna see! Also, I'm a big fan of Rimmel makeup, Sephora, like Brittany said is also quite good.

brett, i will limit my advice for now to one accesory.

This outfit, horrible? Okay? I am trying to be a bit dressy for my birthday but casual enough to be flirtable with as I will be out. The tights are sparkley

I still disagree, Tom.  But whatever, I see hep cats wearing shitty vintage suits all the time now so I guess it's in at the moment or something.  I have one suit that is for jorb interviews, but I also want to get one that is less corporate and more of a dinner suit.  I know that there is a proper tailor/suit shop up near Wintergarden, so I may go take a look some time while I'm still off work.

OK, I have a mission for anyone who has ever shopped for clothes in the UK.

Where do I find pretty clothes? We're talking basically everything here. I have one pair of fairly ok jeans that I tend to wear all the time but I hate all my other clothes almost without exception and I'm thinking what is the point of working 22 hour weeks if I can't buy myself some new clothes?

Please, help me find pretty clothes without paying half as much again to get them shipped from the US?

I just realised there has been a whole heap of discussion on suits the page before, my input on the whole discussion is as follows.

I do not know enough about fashion to drop a lot of money on a big ticket fashion item like this without being completely sure that this suit will fit me perfectly and be like a second skin except one that has a stain on the lapel from a dirty martini and so I require the services of a largely built, confident man of some vaguely Mediterranean origin to make sure that this entire thing goes off without a hitch. I will probably not be disappointed if my tailor is a small english man though

(Ben next time I am down in Sydney we should find a nice bar and diligently discuss CURRENT AFFAIRS in dinner suits)

I think it would be amazing to see people just sitting in a pub, wearing dinner suits.

For many, many reasons I am inherently suspicious of people who wear a normal suit to a normal sort of pub and so I will never do that.

It's not meant to be nice so much as it's meant to be fashionable looking and cheap. It'll usually last about a season before falling apart.

When I hear about how fast clothes usually fall apart for most people I'm always amazed, because for me most clothes last till I'm tired of them, which can be years. I don't think I'm more careful with my clothes than others, I wear them normally, wash them occasionally and use my floor as a wardrobe. I never get holes or tares in anything, so why do everyone else? How long does, say, a pair of jeans usually last for most people, because for me they last pretty much forever.

Also note that I'm not at all complaining, I'm just wondering.

I seem to get caught on random objects/walk into things and get holes in shirts. Other than that, I don't have much problem with clothes.

Oh, I tend to wear out shoes after about a year though. I seem to be hard on shoes.

The only problem I have with clothes are usually jeans, because I fail to invest in high quality pants. And holes come from be snagging things at work because I bump into just about everything. Other than that, my clothes will last a really long time. I have some shirts from H&M and I haven't had a problem with them. They look pretty much the same as they did when I got them, which was over a year ago.

Shoes are different, though. I will wear them until they die and it really depends on how often I wear the shoe and whether or not they are made out of canvas. Canvas shoes typically last a year or so and others last longer. But if they are my favorite shoes, they will not last very long at all, because I'll wear them all the time and I am on my feet for most of the day.

I don't understand people saying that jeans last forever.  How often do you wear your jeans?  When I get a good pair I pretty much live in them, and they last me maybe only a few years.  I mean, that is a pretty good length of time I think, but still it's not "forever". And I know that people say to not wash them and all that jazz but like, if I go more than a handful of days not washing my jeans they start to smell like sweat and I don't like that, so I wash them.  So I guess that in order to keep jeans forever you have to be a dirty hippie?  I just don't know.

I wash my jeans fairly often too, but I have quite a few pairs so there can go days or even weeks between each time I wear one specific pair, so I guess that's the main difference here. Most of them are really cheap and of low quality though, so one would think they wouldn't last long at all.

To be fair I'm pretty sure people who say that don't live on the east coast of Australia because it is basically jeans weather in Brisbane for maybe two weeks of the year, only my perpetual fear of shorts keeps me going

I wash my jeans probably once every two weeks, one week in the summer. I only have two pairs of jeans, one are skinny legged (sewed them from regular jeans to be skinny legged) and one are some Levi 501s or something ridiculously comfortable. I will sleep in the levis, but my other jeans (some shit brand from Costco) are starting to tear in places, there is a hole on the inner right thigh that I have covered by some scrap tshirt material and the part where the beltloop attaches to the waist have started to tear on the sides, not the beltloop tearing off of the waist, but it is bringing parts of the pants with it, so there are holes on each side. I have had these pants for about 4 years though, so I figured it was about time they started to break down and fade. And I don't want to hear anyone bitching about not being able to wear jeans. It gets up to like 50C here in the summer and I still rock jeans because my legs look weird.

They are allowed to complain, it's Australia.

I basically only wash my jeans when I wash the rest of my clothes, when I run out of underwear(so usually like a monthish). Sometimes they get skipped so they go a looong time. I don't think I've  ever spent more than 40 dollars on a pair of jeans, I get them at thrift shops so most of them are like 4dollars.

I am not really old enough to understand jeans lasting more than five years, because my style/size has changed, but I do have jeans from the 6th grade that I wear still.

Fashin Thred! Pay attention to my emergency! (not an actual emergency)

So my girlfriend's senior prom is coming up. And lo and behold, the ASB have come up with the totally original theme of "The Roaring Twenties". Of course we want to dress up for it. She is going to make an awesome flapper. But I do not want to be the stereotypical "gangsta" that will fill the crowd. I want to insert the all-important R back into that word. Back when mobsters wore spats and had class.

So I have at the moment a basic tuxedo suit. Any ideas on things to do make this awesome?

I thought zoot-suits were a WW1 thing, not a '20s thing. It was all about the super-opulence of using so much fabric for a suit during a time when fabric was expensive and rationed due to war uses/expenses.

Well fashion thread I have apparently been stimulated by the government (ie the australian government stimulus package that was mentioned in an earlier thread) however my bank balance is currently showing no signs of it - if it ever does I shall be taking that $900 and buying myself some more semi formal gear so that I can basically dress that way all the time. Photos may ensue.

well, didn't quite go to plan, rather than a whole bunch of nice shirts and waistcoats I ended up with this (apologies for the ridiculous facial expression)

Photo quality is bad for some reason, but in the coming weeks there will be plenty of chances for better photos with it. look forward to them.

Guys, I want to buy a sweater.

I'm thinking a hoodie. I'm not sure though. I need inspiration.

I hate hoodies. With a silly passion.

But I am strange.

I love hoodies if they fit right. I can't stand it when men wear huge hoodies that make look like obese men.
