Shorts should never be worn by anyone ever.

Them's fightin' words.  The right shorts look good to great.

Yeah. It's been pretty warm of late, and I've been busting out the shorts.

As far as I'm concerned, so long as shorts reach below the knee on guys, it's all fine and dandy.

Est you can always do what I do, and turn a pair of old pants into shorts by hacking them off below the knees.

I mean, if you're into the whole ragged shorts look and all. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

I would really like a red necklace like that! I've been looking for a suitable one.

Oh yeah, advice.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I'll tell you what options I have and what I am likely to take.

Matching anything with the primary colours pink and blue on the dress seems ridiculous, as katie has suggested.

I agree with medium strappy heels. I'm completely out of my depth with this because I've never had a full length dress and this throws me off because it stops just above my ankles, so shoes are super important. Unfortuantely most of my strappy heels are black, there might be some brown/gold sandals I can look for.

I can't decide on the colour and accessory type - Most of my jewellery is silver, so this is an option. I like the idea of chunky plastic bracelet in a neutral tone.

So basically I'm stuck on colour, tan/brown seems too inbetween, white could work, and so could black. I might try it with a few things.

Silver would be a good complement to both the dress and your skin tones for jewelry, even shoes. Gold would be a good contrast because it's much warmer and will stand out against the dress, but I'd fear that it'd be washed out because your skin is a mid tone, rather than a dark or light.

I also think that chunky plastic bracelets don't look good for formal occasions, they seem less classy and more I'm going on a date and so this is what I'll wear.

So, winter is approaching, finally. This jacket, does it look alright? I finally fit into it again after losing a liiittle bit of weight, but it still feels tight, and I can't seem to decide if it looks as tight as it feels (like the somewhat protruding side pockets), or if I can get away with wearing it.. I'd prefer not to have to buy a new jacket this winter, because I wanna save money for buying clothes after I've lost more weight than I have atm, but I'd also prefer not looking too bad during the somewhat long winter.

I've got a peacoat that fits me brilliantly, but the pockets also seem to poof out. It's a cute coat, Mari! Wear the fuck out of it.

Ladybug,

The peacoat is nice, but I feel it is a bit chunky. It appears to be a good length for you though. I would suggest not buttoning it right up unless absolutely necessary. Leave the top open with scarf or accesories, to break up the black.
If it is looking poofy, leaving it open, or with just one button usually helps it hang straighted and not bunch around the bottom hem.

On heels any higher than kitten heels: All I think is, man, I'll still be running at sixty while the chick who wore the torture devices is gonna be so laid up and have all kinds of leg/foot problems. Heels worn in anything but the strictest moderation are bad for you, girls!

I used to work with a woman who took it as a point of pride that she could not wear flat shoes as she wore stilettos near constantly, even at home. If she is still walking at sixty I'll eat my conservative loafers.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, it is a bit chunky, which is also a reason I'm not a huuge fan, but ah well, I guess it'll do. I do have a nice-looking purple/blue/green/lots of colors stripy scarf that I guess I could use, so that I wouldn't have to button it all the way up constantly. Just tried it on, and it looks better, thanks!

And nah, maybe not a hippo, but definitely heavier than what is healthy and what I am comfortable with :p Plus, weight loss means I have to get more active and eat healthier, and that can only lead to good things anyways (minus, you know, injuries and stuff that I plan on avoiding)!

All I am going to say about this is, "do not get me started". And that you can find heels that are not bad for your feet, and that if you have the leg and ankle strength to wear them, they are not necessarily bad for your knees or lower back. The end.

Yeah but I think it'd be fine if I wore it without a t-shirt underneath, like I am there. I tried it on in the store and it was fine then. So it's either the t-shirt or I gained hell of weight in the last two weeks.

(I hope I did not gain hell of weight without noticing)

God damn Dovey,

I really need me some Pumas. The last time I was at the Puma store I did it horribly wrong and bought bright orange slip-ons. (My excuse is that I had just spent four hours looking for a pair of decent Vans slip-ons and they were sold out EVERYWHERE. Also the orange looked good in the light of the store. Damn lighting)

Shirts and shoes

The first shirt is bang-whiz, the the second is good too.  The third looks like rainbow flannel?  I guess if you are going to where it roll the sleeves up to your elbow.  If you actually fold them over at the cuff, it should take about 3 folds and hold itself up.  Now as far as Pumas go, I typically see them as the runners for people too old to wear runners and should be wearing actual shoes.  I personally really dont like them, my fashion advice is to get a pair of leather shoes that have a pointy toe instead of a square toe, in a medium brown or darkish red colour instead.  They feel fancy and kind of a pain in the ass, but they are much nicer, and people will notice that.

I want a military style jacket and I found two i kind of like, but I am favoring one more than the other

http://www.express.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=5403&parentCategoryId=1&categoryId=80&subCategoryId=148
I like that one better I think

http://www.express.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=5396&parentCategoryId=1&categoryId=80&subCategoryId=148
That is the other option.

I would post pictures of me trying on both, but I don't have them.
