So, wait, what do you wear for shoes when you have to dress for a formal occasion?

Boots.

I've never been to a formal occasion where people paid attention to my feet.

I don't know why, but every pair of khaki pants I have ever worn makes me look short and stumpy. Jeans are never the same way! I don't get it. This is probably why I don't like them very much. I only wear them when they are part of a work uniform.

Strangely, I have the opposite experience with khakis/jeans. I've always really liked the way I look in khakis, and I have a hard time finding jeans in the right size for me.

I need a good black belt, like the kind I could wear to a job interview/work. What would be cool?

I have honestly never seen anyone wearing khakis and not thought "What a complete toolbag" or "Oh, he must be on break from work".

There's just something inherently awful about them.

Question: Khaki pants on guys?
Yes! If they're the right fit, that is, as with all pants.

Khakis are awesome! I love them for reasons of comfy and quick-dry-ey (which is actually why i started wearing them lots, due to the occasional "we need a watersample from the middle of the stream" situation. Wading suits are just to much of a hassle)

Only place where i actually wouldnt wear them, would be work. (unless it would ential a lot of fieldwork ofcourse)

I have my grandfather's Red Star (Soviet Medal of Honor type deal) somewhere; it would complete the outfit.

What are you wearing for pants? Khakis epitomize the evil capitalist regime, you fool.

I also have the perfect hat to complete that outfit!

Here is a picture of a friend of mine wearing it:

I really, really doubt that copyright would hold up in any court. For the red star, anyway. It's been in widespread public use since the early 1900's.

So like, does he have a superhero name?

Captain Communism, I think.

What.  I've known like hundreds of people who only ever wear boots.  They're comfortable, they last a long time, they're usually almost totally waterproof... why would I wear anything else?

I hate being overly brown. I once accidentally (since I brought a change of some clothes to a friend's place) wore brown corduroy trousers, a brown corduroy jacket and a brown t-shirt.

One of my friends recently delighted in being able to tell me, "Dan, you already have a green velvet blazer," when we were shopping in Camden. My green velvet blazer is awesome. I also have a german officer's cap and a soviet gasmask. I don't wear those. I have a lot of clothes I don't wear.

Also I would reply on facebook but facebook is a dick[/b].

okay, i'm not terribly fond of the whole wannabe-russian look most of the time (seeing as how i'm actually russian and never dress like that) but that jacket is pretty snazzy!

When I lived in Toronto the girl I was living with gave me a black leather jacket that she claimed was the kind that French police detectives wear.  It's basically the most rad jacket I own, and I own a lot of jackets.  HOWEVER!  I have literally worn it out so that several parts of it are now held together by safety pins.

It's punk as fuck, dude.

I'll take a picture later.

F that noise. Everyone should have multiple pairs of shoes to choose from. If every outfit you wear can be complimented by only one pair of shoes you are doing it wrong.
Say what? Almost everything goes well with black, I have one pair of pants that doesn't look good tucked in to my 10" paratrooper boots, so I wear that pair outside of the boots. Other than that, I have jeans, blue slacks, dull green slacks, various T-shirts, some of which don't look so good, but most of those don't look good no matter what. Then, I have my duster and my Flecktarn jacket. I have a pair of brown boots that I regret buying, because they don't hold the ankle as well as I thought they did at first, and a pair of dark brown slip-on shoes that still fit decently, maybe they are called loafers? Not really sure, they are what I would wear if I had to be somewhat formal. If I had a choice, though, I would just wear my boots without tucking the pants in to them, but I would have to polish them first, I was crawling around in a machine room and scuffed them on the concrete floor, and haven't gotten around to re-polishing them yet.

Quoted, cause I just wanted to say something about this statement.

I had a friend who would SCREAM at you if you wore black with brown or blue at all. I don't disagree with her, but she was crazy about it. So, just stay away from her, and I think you'll be fine.

What? Everything does not go well with black. See above, see shorts, see any outfit where everything else is lighter than black (say, a white top with grey jeans). White can work a lot of the time, but it also has plenty of times where it will just look weird.

I like black and brown together >:| I never understood why people say this they're pretty neutral colours, they don't clash, and often times look pretty good together, same with blue and black. Just a few examples that have popped up.

(sorry if it's a bit too couture, I didn't feel like taking a picture with my loose black tee and my mauve brown matte leather bomber jacket)

Either way, I really don't get the,"You can never wear this colour with this colour" thing.

A bathing suit, okay guys I just got this today, I used to think this style was ridiculous, but now I'm kinda digging it, if it's a no-no it's cool because I got it for 4 bucks, however. y/n?

Hey hey, fashion-conscious people.

I have huge feet, to the degree where I can't buy women's shoes in regular stores because they don't have my size in. This bugs me majorly, because men's shoes are ugly, and she special stores with big sizes also have ugly shoes. So what's a good place to order shoes online?
