Shorts should never be worn by anyone ever.

I don't have a keffiyeh but I've seen them around and they seem awfully damn practical for that little space of autumn when you need a scarf to leave the house, but after ten minutes you don't need that scarf anymore and damn it's heavy and thick and oh shit, now I'm stuck carrying it around. Of course any lightweight scarf would fit the bill. But hey, keffiyehs, why not? Of course I'm anti-apartheid so I'm not exactly averse to the "political" message either. But no, I don't think that a bunch of hipsters sporting keffiyeh "waters down" the concept of Palestinian liberation. I think Palestinians have more to worry about than what hipsters in America and Europe do.

What pisses me off the most about all that keffiyeh business are those fucking Anti-German idiots who get all angry at anyone who wears a keffiyeh to support the palestinian liberation. Because, you know, "The Jews are allowed to do everything they like because the Bad Bad Germans are so evil. Bomb Dresden! Again! huaglabablalal Morgenthau hur hur hur Stalingrad yadda yadda"

Fucking idiots.

Anyway, that dress is really pretty!

I own like 5 pairs of shorts. I don't know what I'll ever do with them now.
I've been asking girls if they wanted to go shopping with me. I figure they have better fashion sense than I do.

Well. Hmm, that's sort of a colorful dress.. I guess you'd either want to wear something that doesn't show off that you're wearing shoes, or something that is colorful like the dress? Maybe white or cream colored flats or heels would go well with it. Just something you'd want to wear all day, I guess.
It might be one of my pet peeves, but I really dislike when girls wear heels, then take them off 1/4 through the night because they aren't used to wearing them and their feet hurt. If you are going to wear shoes, suck it up or I'll start dropping thumbtacks.

I don't like flats because they usually look silly, but I also dislike when girls wear shoes they aren't in good enough shape to wear. Heels require ankle strength and some calf muscle! But my point is that I agree about the girls being stupid about their shoes, except that in my case they only have one option which they never take (which is to learn how to wear heels for a long time) and this just drives me crazier.

Fattay: I would go with heels that are ivory or the yellow colour on the dress. You could try the red if you can find the right colour, but I would not wear shoes that colour blue or pink with that dress because then it looks like you are matching your shoes to your outfit like they did in the 60s. You do pretty well anyway with picking one aspect to play up with an outfit, so I think you'll be alright regardless. If your arms feel kind of bare, I would wear one kind of chunky bracelet in a brighter colour or a silver chain bracelet and only for one arm, but actually it looks really good with the minimal accessories you have in the picture. I dunno about earrings, though, since I can't see them, but I would go with something subtle and maybe dangly but not very long, and also silver. (I don't think gold would do much for that dress any time.)

Ali, I think you should avoid heels- with a dress that long they can just look odd. If I were to wear that dress I would pair it with some sandals, probably a metallic color of some sort. Bronze would look really nice with the colors, but silver or gold might be more practical so you could do jewelery to coordinate with the shoes.

Sandals would look good with it. Silver ones.

But please no flats. I cannot see flats looking good with that dress.

Wear them, some people(me) think shorts are nice on men, and ladies.

Also, Fatty, I say no to flats, I don't think flats ever look good with dresses unless it's a cutsey/hippie-boho-flowy dress. I'm definately thinking strappy heels, but I'm not sure, I don't really care for long dresses that aren't cocktail in nature, I do like the pattern though.

I also would suggest not wearing flats. With a long dress like that, you can't really wear flats, it makes you look stunted.

I would maybe recommend a nice kitten heel, in a black, maybe a patent. I only say this, because the dress is the main part of the outfit, in this situation. If you were wearing a black skirt and a white shirt, it would be cool to wear a colored heel. You can't really take away from that dress, unless you wear the wrong color shoe.

I also think silver accessories would look really pretty with that. For sure.

This is why I came into the fashion thread in the first place. I know color theory, but I'll be damned if I can put together anything more complex than shoes, pants a shirt and a hat.

I have sorta creepy legs I think. I dunno. calves are weird.

Flats in general are a great option, I would wear them with a shorter dress, knee length. If it's any longer than that, it kind of dwarfs your body, in my opinion. I think this is merely the case with dresses. I think flats are super fun.

I don't think flats would look good to that dress either, but too high heels would make you look out of proportion because of the length of the dress. A nice pair of sandals with a small-medium heel would look great, something like this:

Although not in red. Since the dress has so many colors, I guess the shoes should either match one of the main colors of the dress, or be something completely neutral, like cream of beige... Not white or black though, that would stand out too much, and the dress looks so great it has to be the main focus. I don't think you should wear a necklace either, it would be a bit over the top because of the bold pattern. A nice, big bracelet would do just fine!

Jeez, I have way too much time on my hands.

Yeah. It's been pretty warm of late, and I've been busting out the shorts.

As far as I'm concerned, so long as shorts reach below the knee on guys, it's all fine and dandy.

Est you can always do what I do, and turn a pair of old pants into shorts by hacking them off below the knees.

I mean, if you're into the whole ragged shorts look and all. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

I would really like a red necklace like that! I've been looking for a suitable one.

Oh yeah, advice.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I'll tell you what options I have and what I am likely to take.

Matching anything with the primary colours pink and blue on the dress seems ridiculous, as katie has suggested.

I agree with medium strappy heels. I'm completely out of my depth with this because I've never had a full length dress and this throws me off because it stops just above my ankles, so shoes are super important. Unfortuantely most of my strappy heels are black, there might be some brown/gold sandals I can look for.

I can't decide on the colour and accessory type - Most of my jewellery is silver, so this is an option. I like the idea of chunky plastic bracelet in a neutral tone.

So basically I'm stuck on colour, tan/brown seems too inbetween, white could work, and so could black. I might try it with a few things.

Silver would be a good complement to both the dress and your skin tones for jewelry, even shoes. Gold would be a good contrast because it's much warmer and will stand out against the dress, but I'd fear that it'd be washed out because your skin is a mid tone, rather than a dark or light.

I also think that chunky plastic bracelets don't look good for formal occasions, they seem less classy and more I'm going on a date and so this is what I'll wear.

So, winter is approaching, finally. This jacket, does it look alright? I finally fit into it again after losing a liiittle bit of weight, but it still feels tight, and I can't seem to decide if it looks as tight as it feels (like the somewhat protruding side pockets), or if I can get away with wearing it.. I'd prefer not to have to buy a new jacket this winter, because I wanna save money for buying clothes after I've lost more weight than I have atm, but I'd also prefer not looking too bad during the somewhat long winter.

Ladybug,

The peacoat is nice, but I feel it is a bit chunky. It appears to be a good length for you though. I would suggest not buttoning it right up unless absolutely necessary. Leave the top open with scarf or accesories, to break up the black.
If it is looking poofy, leaving it open, or with just one button usually helps it hang straighted and not bunch around the bottom hem.

On heels any higher than kitten heels: All I think is, man, I'll still be running at sixty while the chick who wore the torture devices is gonna be so laid up and have all kinds of leg/foot problems. Heels worn in anything but the strictest moderation are bad for you, girls!

I used to work with a woman who took it as a point of pride that she could not wear flat shoes as she wore stilettos near constantly, even at home. If she is still walking at sixty I'll eat my conservative loafers.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, it is a bit chunky, which is also a reason I'm not a huuge fan, but ah well, I guess it'll do. I do have a nice-looking purple/blue/green/lots of colors stripy scarf that I guess I could use, so that I wouldn't have to button it all the way up constantly. Just tried it on, and it looks better, thanks!

And nah, maybe not a hippo, but definitely heavier than what is healthy and what I am comfortable with :p Plus, weight loss means I have to get more active and eat healthier, and that can only lead to good things anyways (minus, you know, injuries and stuff that I plan on avoiding)!

All I am going to say about this is, "do not get me started". And that you can find heels that are not bad for your feet, and that if you have the leg and ankle strength to wear them, they are not necessarily bad for your knees or lower back. The end.

Yeah but I think it'd be fine if I wore it without a t-shirt underneath, like I am there. I tried it on in the store and it was fine then. So it's either the t-shirt or I gained hell of weight in the last two weeks.

Shirts and shoes

The first shirt is bang-whiz, the the second is good too.  The third looks like rainbow flannel?  I guess if you are going to where it roll the sleeves up to your elbow.  If you actually fold them over at the cuff, it should take about 3 folds and hold itself up.  Now as far as Pumas go, I typically see them as the runners for people too old to wear runners and should be wearing actual shoes.  I personally really dont like them, my fashion advice is to get a pair of leather shoes that have a pointy toe instead of a square toe, in a medium brown or darkish red colour instead.  They feel fancy and kind of a pain in the ass, but they are much nicer, and people will notice that.

I agree with Chesire's shoe advice, except about the pointy toe bit. Pointy toes are awful. Square toes are where it's at.
