I personally, do not care much for vests. Some people can pull it off rather well. Some cannot. I fall into that latter category, and I realize this, thus I do not attempt this. I see a lot of girls, and thankfully no guys, who, like me, are of the rounder body type. Vests do nothing for this body type at all whatsoever.

Vests in most cases seem very dated. I can't think of more than 5 examples where I've seen a vest look good.

Hey fashion people, quick question: can you iron corduroy? Cause I washed my corduroy pants and they're pretty wrinkly. I don't think that it's an issue, but then I thought that maybe this is one of those things that Isn't Done. So yeah... can you?

EDIT: also, cool fish.

Fun fact: When I met you in Sydney I was completely enamored with you because of that fish.  Well, there were probably other factors but hot damn that fish is rad.

New question, I have a jacket that says its 60% Wool, 20% Nylon and 20% Rayon.  Now those fancy materials could be the liner or whatever, but I want to iron the lapels back into prominence, they are going soft and flappy.  Do I need to know/do anything special?

Just make sure the iron isn't super hot, basically. Doesn't your iron have settings for different fabrics? Or are you kickin' it like a Luddite?

Scarfs are probably the best outerwear.  They are so very versatile.  You can wrap them around your ears, or your nose, or whatever you wish, or you can make them look good, or you can find a sexy yet cozy compromise.

I also got a stripey dress!  It's so adorable!
Also I joined the shorts brigade.  I don't care what you guys say, I look hot.

IMPORTANT FASHION QUESTION!

Ok, it's not that important, but it is a question. What color pants does one wear with a midnight blue blouse? My jeans are darker washes, but I also I have black, grey, and red to choose from, but I am not wearing red pants with a blue shirt. Is it ok to wear a dark blue shirt with dark jeans?

The darker wash could work but the grey might be a better choice. Take a couple pictures and let us decide!

I was also going to say that I would probably go with the grey, out of the choices you have.

Black could work, imo, but I know tons of people hate black + navy/dark blue, so ymmv.

I think it looks ok when there's mostly black and the blue is the shirt. Black with mostly navy blue is not so great. At least it's not wearing more than one shade of black, which generally looks bad.

I mean, I'd wear dark navy blue jeans with a black sweater or hoodie or T-shirt.

I've also worn a navy blue T-shirt with a black hoodie and it looked fine.

Blue jeans don't count as blue, they're basically neutral, even if they're not a neutral colour per sé,

I like both pairs pretty well, but I have to agree that the first pair is a lot more interesting/flattering. Either way, you look great.

I also like dark blue with black, but I bet gray and dark blue would be lovely. Take pictures.

What do you mean? Layered shades of black and grey (perhaps offset with white or some small areas of colour) looks amazing during winter and fall.

Maybe some of those people have personal concerns about clashing colours and such, but in general basing your fashion choices on wives-tale platitudes is a pretty dumb thing to do.

Not layered shades of black and grey, but wearing a dark black with a faded black (because of washing) or an obviously warm black with a cool black. Like, you're wearing all black and none of the blacks are the same black. It happens.

It's the fashion self-informed versus Mr. Navy-Blue-and-Black.

Posting a question in a Fashion Advice thread implies baby steps to be taken when giving advice.  Until the target owns their cool, No Blue with Black, No Problem, seems like a solid rule.

I honestly like blue and black as a colour combination. Seriously, I would like one good reason why they don't go well together. Colour theory makes them work really well, and both are slimming colours.

I should have been specific. I'm talking about business quality clothing, not casual stuff. Wearing a blouse and pants or jacket and pants, etc. that are not the same shade of black looks bad. I need a picture to explain it better I think.

Well yeah Linds. I would, as a general rule, never wear all black ever when it comes to formal clothing. Contrast is nice.
