Dude I started a thread about them and gave the address of the blog I got it from like over a month ago.  Yeah, they pretty much slay.  And to be specific they're from Peru in case you cared.

Whoa, totally missed it.  Sorry.

Welcome to Sky Valley, definitely. Though Blues for the Red Sun is better than both of em, well maybe not better than Welcome to Sky Valley. It's a hard decision really, could write a whole thesis about which one of them is better than the other one, though that would require a lot of work, so I wont :P (that probably sparked the prejudices people probably have against stoners, ehrm I mean the typical audience of Kyuss :D)

Starting to go off-topic really...

That may be true, I have had hells of fun playing that Jet song that is always on the radio on bass in rock band. I normally find that song terribly annoying.

Also, no need to quote the post above you dogg.

Yes, yes you have. But don't get too enthusiastic. You did send me that song, if you remember.

I will have you all know that "Renegade" by Styx is one of my favourite classic rock tunes ever, and despite constant airplay on Classic Rock Radio (you know, the one that plays the exact same music as every other Classic Rock Radio station in the country) I am not sick of it. Yet.

I don't know what I was thinking when I tried to introduce my friend/boss's kid to "Little Wing" by Hendrix. He promptly deleted it from his iTunes because, well, I guess he's a little bitch with shitty taste in music. You know that band with those 10-year-olds that the Disney Channel whores out these days? The Naked Brothers Band, I think? Yeah, he prefers them.

Seriously hit the kid with a record player.

It's true, rhythm games make bad songs tolerable quite often.  I remember actually enjoying No Doubt's "Ex-Girlfriend" in freQuency.

The exception: "Dani California", I still fucking hate that song. And at game night tonight (every Thursday night at this one dude's house) all anybody wanted to play was "Enter Sandman" and after about 15 minutes of that shit I promptly left.

I still reamed at "Reptilia" on hard, though.

So earlier tonight, I was listening to Patti Smith and I had a revelation.

Rock N Roll Nigger is actually the best rock and roll song ever written.

Thunder. Road.

"you can hide beneath your covers and study your pain
make crosses from your lovers, throw roses in the rain
waste your summer prayin in vain for a savior to rise from these streets
and i'm no hero, that's understood
all the redemption i can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
with a chance we'll make it good somehow
well what else can we do now

except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair?"

"and there were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
they haunt this dusty beach road with the skeleton frames of their burnt out chevrolets
i hear them scream your name at night in the street
your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
and in the lonely cool before dawn
i hear their engines a roarin on, but when you get to the porch
they're gone on the wind
so mary climb in

it's a town full of losers, i'm pullin outta here to win."

i'm not enraptured by bruce's overall career; i don't even listen to him that much. but this is possibly my favorite song of all time.

David Bowie has put out some pretty danged cathartic music in his time.

Life On Mars?

Although I think "Heroes" takes it.

RANDOM ON-TOPIC POST INTERJECTION!

My recent "Greatest Rock Song Of All Time. Ever." include "Lost Parts Stinging Me So Cold" by Melt Banana and "Shaking Hands" by WOMEN (thanks QC Music Blog!). But if I wanted to actually give a single song my love it would possibly have to go to Sonic Youth's "Total Trash".

It doesn't get much more rock n fucking roll than this.
Even when you sit through a minute of John and Mick talking. That's still more rock and roll than most people ever get in their lives.

Ok, I have a story that fits this thread so damn perfectly it's awesome.
So I was just relaxing in my beach hut thing with my copy Led Zeppelin's Four blasting out pretty loud and I'm just flipping channels and I wind up on the news. Right as "When The Levee Breaks" really opens up coverage on Hurricane Katrina starts, and this is when they were hiding behind those levees that they were worried would break or whatever. I was just like, "oh they are so fucked".
So, "When The Levee Breaks" - Led Zeppelin
I'm sad someone already took Green Machine though. That would have been my other choice.

"We Will Rock You"- Queen

/thread

....nah.

really? i mean that song's great if you've heard it like...4 times in your life. but there's not much in it to sustain one's interest past its immediate appeal.

i love queen dude, and i could name a number of songs that a far more interesting than that one. "don't try suicide" is hilarious.

How can a song be a "/thread" when this is a thread about songs that make you go "OMIGOSH BEST SONG EVER" and not just one particular song that's better than others?

Anyways "This Year" by the Mountain Goats is stuck in my head a good way.
